Dacheng is an expert theologian and chair of the sages in the Earth Federation.
History[]
A somewhat older gentleman, Dacheng remembers the time before Korra passed away, and even before she retired to live out the rest of her days as a hermit. As Head of Theology at Ba Sing Se University, he was raised to the chair of sages, which had mostly become a board of qualified academics rather than political appointments.
When over sixteen years had passed since the death of Avatar Korra, Dacheng gathered his allies and attempted to call an emergency conclave, though was shut down by then-president of the Federal Council, Chunmei Sung, Governor of Yang.
It was only shortly after that Avatar Xiao was discovered. Korra had nominated an Earth Sage representative as an executor of her will, and Dacheng received that honor after Xiao's discovery. Though he hoped for the boy to learn under a very traditional master, he could not dispute Lidana Sato's proposal for him to learn under Wuji Beifong in Zaofu.
Once Nuzhe visited him on the solstice and informed him that Lidana and Wuji had fallen out over Xiao's spiritual training, Dacheng managed to have President Xiang and President Hamada agree to removing Beifong, hoping to name himself as the new master. Once Xiao entered the Avatar State and destroyed the state senate building, Dacheng was disgraced and relieved of many of his duties.
