Colonel Shi was an Earth Kingdom military officer and outstanding earthbender who battled the 31st company during the later years of the Hundred Year War. Shi was one of the most respected and feared leaders in the Earth Kingdom military. Shi had strong defense and could use earthbending to propel himself in the sky in combat. Shi hurled barrages of stones, boulders, and other objects at his enemy while he glided at anywhere from 30 to 60 miles an hour with attacks that could travel twice as fast as his own movement.
Shi commanded his own battalion of troopers but only held authority over army forces. Shi's troops were skilled at using ambushes and flank tactics to pick their enemies apart. Shi valued his infantry having a diverse array of weapons including swords, spears, axes, arrows, and battle hammers.
Battle with Macai[]
Shi's forces held off multiple Fire Nation units as they battled in the swampy borders of the Earth Kingdom. Despite the fall of Ba Sing Se, Shi's forces pushed further and deeper into the Fire Nation's territory until they made it to Rekk's Creek. Around this time, one of Shi's subordinates Major Vasha dug up a strong defense in the neighboring territory of Vanaloori which had also recently been taken from the opposing country.
It was only a matter of time before Macai and his allies caught up with Shi's forces who happened to be assisted by multiple Water Tribe warriors. This was a big revelation for Macai as he had never fought both Earth Kingdom and Water Tribe units in the same mission. However, the cohesion of the Fire Nation shock trooper unit ultimately led it to victory. Shi eventually was confronted by Macai himself and the two engaged in a grand rumble. Despite Shi's experience, Macai's unique powers proved to be too much for the veteran.
