Choulou is a spirit of pride. It is a minor character that appears in Chapter 6: The Shipment.
History[]
The origins of the Choulou are unknown but he mostly goes after the prideful in the Haijun Kingdom's lands. The Choulou is a primate-like spirit with lavender purple fur, three eyes, and one horn on its head. In the story Skin Deep Beauty, the Choulou targets a woman named Meinu. This woman was jealous of her ex-lover's new woman and known to be self-centered and narcissistic. She had a reputation to use herself to allure the men, and intimidate the women and force them into contracts they'll never get out of. Her behavior and actions eventually caught wind of the Choulou. A benevolent spirit who punishes the prideful, she was mistakenly dropped off in the Lower Ring. Where she ended up getting lost and then stumbled upon an old man. The old man falls and the noblewoman in her disgust refuses to aid the dirty old man. When she runs off, he follows her in his true form as he appears to be a primate-like spirit with three eyes and one horn.
The Choulou possesses Meinu's body and transforms it to punish her for her misdeeds. Forever changing the woman, she felt as this day was a nightmare until she looks in the mirror. One good look makes her scream and causes her to run further into the Lower Ring never to be seen again.
