"Breaking the Strings" is the eighth episode of Book One: Metal of Hikar's Spiritual Chronicles, and the eighth overall in the series.

Overview[]

Fire...

Air...

Water...

Earth...

The new Avatar is the only one capable of bringing peace and balance to the world.

What is this? An airbender with RED TATTOOS? Seems dangerous, and yet not enough of a challenge for Avatar Hikar to eventually defeat them. OH MY!! Who is this individual what's going to happen?

Synopsis[]

After defeating the Red Airbender, Hikar falls to a mysterious bloodbender, only for Bultina to reveal her hidden edge.

Trivia[]

  • This episode and the previous were originally going to be a single episode, since it took place the same night at the same place, but it turned out too long for it to fit in the new format and thus it was split into two separate episode, split into parts.
  • The title of the episode is a direct reference to "The Puppetmaster", as Bultina fully strips herself from the control of bloodbending, and thus, she's a puppet that is "breaking her strings".
  • Hikar becomes the second Avatar ever to lose their bending and quickly recover it after, after Korra in Endgame.
  • Bultina becomes the second known non-waterbending individual to resist a bloodbending grip, after Mako, and the first non-bender to do so. She's also the first non-bloodbender to be fully capable of moving their own body despite being in a full grip.
  • This episode, as well as the previous, features a cameo of the Metallic Wolves, the same band from "The Last Dance".
