Chanzui is a minor character in Avatar: Civil Strife, he appeared in Chapter 6 as part of personal story shared by Wei, one of the soldiers in Captain Qishi's company.
History[]
Chanzui lived in the Lower Ring and competed as a competitive eater at annual festivals and events where he won medals and gold. Since he was a child Chanzui was known to eat servings up to that of a family of four. Eventually he retired from competitive eating when he met his wife Pan Wei. Years later, Pan Wei was pregnant with Chanzui's first born child. One evening, Pan Wei heard a struggle coming from the kitchen she thought that Chanzui was in the middle of suffering a heart attack.
When she hobbled over to check she instead found him wrestling a large shaggy green ox hound spirit. She shrieked in terror at the sight of the spirit beast, while Chanzui overpowered the spirit he told his wife to flee and protect his child. Pan gathered all her strength and fled the scene, hiding inside a shed where she slept all night. In the morning, Chanzui's body was nowhere to be found the Xiannu Gou devoured the man whole.
Abilities[]
Chanzui was born an earthbender but it is unknown whether he mastered his native element or not. However, Chanzui was a competitive eater and wrote scripts that contained information and tips on how his fans could become a successful competitive eater like him.
