Baotong is heir apparent to the Qiangda Kingdom throne and the cousin of Earth King Qiang Zhen of the Qiangda Dynasty. He is a minor character in the fanon Avatar: The Legacy of Rong Yan.

History[]

Qiang Zhen and Baotong were very close when Qiang Zhen assumed the throne after the assassination of his grandfather he was unwed and childless. As a promise he made his favorite cousin Baotong his heir apparent if something was ever to happen to him. Keeping the throne in family hands instead of a second cousin.

Even if Qiang Zhen had a son he would not strip Baotong of the decision he made. Baotong as the crowned prince was tasked to visit the eastern Qiangdian states to announce his inheritance to the throne of the Earth King while also advertising support to Qiang Zhen his cousin.

As part of Senlin's plan, Baotong became a target when rumors were spread of the Earth King's cousin visiting Kunlun City in Kunlun province two months prior. The plan was to assassinate the prince and plant evidence that someone of the Northern Water Tribe was hired by the Chief of the North. If handled successfully this would spark a declaration of war by the Qiangda Kingdom. Which would distract the Kingdom further and weaken them as now they had to spare men from fighting the civil war and instead use them to fight the Northern Water Tribe.

Death[]

Kimaru was tasked to assassinate the prince and so he took a ferry from Dahongpao to Bu'Keng where he met a group of minstrels. He traveled with them for two weeks to reach the city of Kunlun where his target was located in. A festival was the evening of the assassination after the prince appeared at the event it was the last time the public saw him that night.

In the morning, he was missing his hand being eaten by a farmer's sow pig, the ring of the crowned prince found on the hand. His body was later discovered castrated and with his throat slit. A dagger wedged into his chest, various other items, a passport of the assassin left behind and a scroll that contained a hit from Chief Cupun.

Respark of the War[]

Through the evidence found in the investigation a scroll was sent to Qiang Zhen from the governor of Kunlun. With a detailed explanation of what happened, evidence found at the crime scene and his condolences. This caused Qiang Zhen to fall to his knees and weep for slaying of his cousin, the heir apparent to the Qiangda throne.

With the accusation in thought he calls upon his Council of Five and declares war on the Northern Water Tribe and a bounty on the dead assassin and Chief Cupun. Which is what Senlin had intended to happen.
