| — Avatar Ku Tei gave advice to Rong Yan in Chapter 1: Dangerous Waters. |
Ku Tei is the Earth Kingdom Avatar proceeding Avatar Anana, and preceding before Avatar Rong Yan. Ku Tei is a supporting character in the fanon Avatar: The Legacy of Rong Yan. Ku Tei was known to be a high respected, extremely powerful Avatar back in his lifetime, and still is. He was a high-ranked Earth Kingdom general within the Earth Kingdom Army. Ku Tei learned that he was the Avatar at a late age of 21 years due to the time that right when he hit the age of sixteen he joined the military, it was soon after his twenty first birthday that they told him, after he returned home. Everything changed for the earthbender, everyone in Ba Sing Se did not just see him as a hero but, also as the Avatar.
History[]
Early Life[]
Avatar Ku Tei was born to a lower ring family within the grand city of Ba Sing Se. Ku Tei was raised by a single mother along with his older sibling. When he was identified as the Avatar, his family was moved to a home in the Upper Ring by Earth King Wang.
Teen Years[]
At the age sixteen, he had already mastered earthbending, and followed his dreams and joined the Qiangda Kingdom Army. The council within the Earth Kingdom arrived at his home in the middle ring.
Avatar Ku Tei, as he appeared in Aang's vision.
But, they were too late he had already left to the war. They did not go to the battlefield for fear of being killed. They waited for five years until the end of the war between the Earth Kingdom and the Water Tribes. He served the military until he 21, where the Earth King pulled him from his tour and gifted him an armadillo lion instead. He was revealed to be the Avatar and was sent off to the Fire Nation.
Chunan[]
Chunan encountered Ku Tei on his way back to Caldera City from Yin La when two akuto attacked him. He carried enrollment papers from the hopefuls of Yin La who wished to master firebending. The Avatar saved his life against the two akuto but prevented him from finishing off the trapped akuto.
He offered Chunan a ride to Caldera if that's where he was heading, which he accepted. Chunan dismounted Huyu after the reached the Imperial Guards of the tenno. The Avatar returned to Chunan with Chunan's girlfriend, Aiko.
Chunan wanted to refuse in helping the Avatar but his father Sojiro scolded him into accepting the offer. He asked further on it but the Avatar gave him little details, Chunan accepted and he was escorted to the Fire Nation Royal Palace. Where he met Yozei, the Fire Lord ordered Chunan to fight his daughter Princess Ume in an Agni Kai.
If Chunan won the Agni Kai he would be allowed to train the Avatar, if he failed he will be exiled. The high stakes were given and he accepted the challenge. That afternoon, Chunan faced Ume in a traditional Sun Warrior Agni Kai. He was overwhelmed by Ume and almost lost but unleashed what was known as the Phoenix's Rebirth on the crowned princess. This knocked her out of the ring unconscious and Chunan was declared the winner. Chunan taught Ku Tei firebending soon after, and in two years he mastered firebending.
Yong Ten[]
Yong Ten despite being an airbending master was an irresponsible, and impatient master with no priorties. Hegumen Jinpa assigned Yong Ten to teach Ku Tei airbending, to the dismay and disagreement of Prior Kama.
Yong Ten was impatient because it took six months for Ku Tei to conjure air, and irresponsible and no priorties because there were times where he didn't show up to train the Avatar. This took five years of the Avatar's life to master airbending.
Naartok[]
Ku Tei travels to the Southern Water Tribe where he meets Naartok the son of a noble in the Court of Elders. Naartok is a student of international relations, his goal was to be a diplomat and eventually an ambassador of one of the embassies of the South.
While he studied international relations, he trained Avatar Ku Tei in waterbending in his home amongst other locations while the Avatar mastered the element in two years. There was a point in the Avatar's training where Naartok instructed him in lifting pillars of ice out of the ground; similar to an earth line.
Ku Tei destroyed Elder Hotah's courtyard in the process and then Naartok and Ku Tei cowered after Hotah burst out the door to see the damages. Naartok instructed the Avatar to assist him in fixing the courtyard before his father strangles both of them with a water tentacle.
Sun Wu[]
Ku Tei ran into Sun Wu in Jintai in a spiritual location hidden from the public only known to those who are spiritually enlightened or have a level of high spirituality. Sun Wu was a sage who prepared himself to be a great sage of the Tongren province where he grew up.
He attempted to assist Ku Tei in mastering lavabending but the Avatar failed to learn the concept of it. Although he served as Ku Tei's spiritual mentor and helped the Avatar master the Avatar State.
Preventing Yeh Lu's Assassination[]
Ku Tei and Chunan helped Yozei in uncovering the plot against his crowned prince Yeh. In a few weeks they found the traitors to be Hanfuri and Suttamodo, twin cousins of Yeh and sons of Ume. Yozei placed both twins on trial and found them guilty of treason, so he had them executed.
Betrayal of General Senlin[]
Senlin grew jealous of Ku Tei, he was made the Ambassador-General of the Council of Five and eventually was anointed the Leader of the Council of Five. The sheer jealous drove Senlin to madness.
Fourteen years led the Qiangda and Oma Kingdoms to lose countless men and battles all due to the traitor. Senlin caused the Oma Kingdom to secede from the unification with the Qiangda Kingdom. And was directly responsible for their continued losses.
Avatar Ku Tei in an earthbending stance, making a hand motion to lift earth out of the ground.
Senlin was caught by Yong Ten and Ku Tei when they visited Nanuq's palace where they found Senlin, Aput and Nanuq in plans discussion. Soon after the world summit where they agreed on terms to a ceasefire. Ku Tei was able to find Senlin a year later and stop him in his tracks.
The Avatar accused him of treason, due to the event that transpired in Nanuq's home. Avatar Ku Tei fought in a large battle with General Senlin, at the end the Avatar prevailed. Instead, of killing him on the battlefield Avatar Ku Tei decided for his betrayal to the Earth Kingdom, he was sent to prison for life.
The imprisonment of General Senlin, was the end of the thirty-year war between the Water Tribes, and the Earth Kingdom.
The Avatar[]
The day that he returned home, there was a knock on his door, and the council arrived telling him that the age of sixteen he was to know of his true identity, but had left to the war right after, so they delayed the news and waited. (That's it I'll write more when I write the chapter dedicated to his life story, and when I write the fanon for him.)
Appearances in Avatar Rong Yan's life[]
Ku Tei is like Rong Yan's mentor when Rong Yan needs Ku Tei, he meditates and summons him for his assistance. Ku Tei also assisted Rong Yan in the location of the spirit named Kai-Shek. Amongst other things that have helped his successor.
Appearances in Avatar Korra's life[]
Avatar Ku Tei was present along with several other Avatars when Aang passed on the knowledge of energybending to Korra, representing the connection she had made with her spiritual side.
