Avani is the Haijun Kingdom Avatar succeeding Avatar Keirou, and preceding before Avatar Nivedita. Avani is also the Earth Kingdom Avatar before, Avatar Bhudev. Avani appeared in the fanon Avatar: The Legacy of Rong Yan and is the main protagonist in Avatar: Civil Strife.
History[]
Early Life[]
Avani was born to Lord Jifu and Lady Munaiyi in 1941 BG, soon after the death of Avatar Keirou in Aupaluk. She was born into the Xinao noble family, who reside in the Upper Ring of Ba Sing Se. At the age of four, she was discovered to be the Avatar with one of the two most accurate tests in both kingdoms. In the Haijun Kingdom they use the bone trigrams to find the Avatar while in the Oma Kingdom they use Spiritual Tantrism to find the Avatar.
Gomo a member of the Oma Kingdom who was affiliated with the Order of the White Lotus tested a four-year-old Avani. The signs through the test are if the stomach has the chi of a master bender, a pure and strong heart, and if the crown chakra gives the tantrist a vision of the preceding Avatar. While tradition in the Haijun Kingdom was to footbind the younger girls from the ages of 4 - 9, Shuicheng banned footbinding for the Avatar.
He wanted Avani to be a strong earthbender and wanted her to be able to move freely without any issues related to footbinding. Something that she was made fun of growing up because her feet were bound like the other noble girls. Gomo likely would've become her earthbending master except Shuicheng ordered that her father be her earthbending master as Jifu was a skillful earthbender despite being the owner of brewing company.
Haunted by Ghosts[]
Upon arriving to the encampment in northern Pingyao, Avani has seen a Fire Nationalist in the camp. When she brought it up to her new friends, she was told she was crazy because Wei, one of the men that works with Captain Qishi proved there was no Fire Nationalist on the list of soldiers in the camp.
Later that evening, she was spooked by the same Fire Nationalist in her tent and she caused a commotion that resulted in Captain Qishi having the men search the camp for an intruder that didn't exist. Eventually, when Avani communed with Avatar Keirou she learned that the Nationalist was one of her past lives, Avatar Hansuke.
Avatar Hansuke, abruptly interrupted their meeting and took over the veil replacing Avatar Keirou to introduce himself to the young Avatar. Both Avatars fought to share information to their successor, with Keirou warning Avani to stay away from Avatar Hansuke because his slopiness and idiotic advice caused the death of his successor Avatar Kavi. It is also unknown, how Avatar Kavi died, but it is known he died in his fifties.
Cheaters Never Prosper[]
During Avani's second day of training she was partnered with Taobing, another soldier to practice close-quarters combat. After their training for an activity everyone was put in a sparring match against their partner. Avani sparred with Taobing, although Taobing a former Lei Tai champion had her beat. Refusing to give up during a breather that Taobing permitted her to have Avatar Hansuke popped into existence; to chime in and assist her in her dilemma.
Listening to her past live's terrible advice she cheated by dislodging a rock out of the ground in front of Taobing. The fighter tripped and as he was falling Avani struck him in the chin knocking him out. While she might have won, she didn't trick Shuaige who watched her closely and saw the illegal move. After he declared Taobing the winner he yelled at Avani, and ordered Baoshou to take her to the Ring of Punishment where he would strike her sixty times with a bo staff as a form of punishment. Baoshou escorted her to the area, where she was forced to disrobe so that Shuaige could beat her as her first offense. Shuaige is the type to seek approval from Shuicheng.
Butting Heads with the Captain[]
It is known that for the past two months Shuaige and Avani have butted heads which caused her to be punished a few times. During artillery training, Airen accidentally knocked over a stand that caused Avani to grab hold of the rocket. Once it fired it crashed outside the camp's walls and began a fire. Shuaige immediately blamed Avani but Airen interjected and explained that it was his fault and not the Avatar's. When Qishi attempted to apologize Avani told him to leave her alone and she walked away. However, when she and Shuaige travel to the town to speak to Magistrate Minsheng. Avatar Hansuke takes control of Avani and forces her to speak to Shuaige, which eventually leads to her apologizing and forgiving Shuaige.
Shipment[]
Avani and Shuaige ventured in Zi Guangi to discuss things with Magistrate Minsheng, the county leader of the area. Shuaige felt it'd be a great idea to have the Avatar accompany him. He believed that Avani gave people hope, and if she played along they could convince the magistrate to let them escort the shipment. They sat for dinner with the old man and his family as he relayed the information to them and mentioned enemy movement nearby. However, the enemy has been avoiding military patrol from Fort Li Jun and Ba Sing Se's borders.
Minsheng eventually made a comment about how the Yanzhao creeped him out, and Avani felt slightly offended by it. After she and Qishi left, she complained to Shuaige about Minsheng's comments. She defended the Yanzhao and mentioned they're good people, those who have negative comments likely have something to hide. While Shuaige remained quiet about his thoughts on the spy ring.
Avani, Shuaige, and the men woke up the next morning to retrieve the shipment that needed to be delivered. They spent a total of almost two days delivering the goods to Taiyuan, the capital of Pingyao province. Along the way, Avani and Captain Qishi's company ran into the hands of the champion of the Meng, Gan and his brigade. Who further themselves into enemy territory, Avani's group was ambushed by Gan, when an archer killed an earthbender on ostrich horseback. Avani and her group initiated battle after this ambush and they fought with little to no injuries. When Gan revealed the numbers of his army Baoshou begged Avani to do something.
In this moment, Avani triggered her Avatar State and unleashed an earthquake, causing fear into the hearts of the barbarian soldiers and their leader. They fled with only one hundred of them remaining to sacrifice themselves in a distraction. Avani killed half of them solely while the rest fled, Shuaige ordered her to cease the fighting and banned her from confronting them alone.
After the skirmish it resulted in Taobing being injured in the process after he was hit in the left shoulder with an arrow. Avani did her best to heal Taobing's wound, which led the men into being impressed when they witnessed that the Avatar could heal.
Arrival in Taiyuan[]
Avani's arrival in the city of Taiyuan was met with immediate civil war business, she along with Captain Qishi headed toward the Palace of the capital where Governor Xingren Wuqi awaited their presence to discuss their report of their skirmish with the Oma Kingdom troops and presence of enemy soldiers on the western border. As Avani and Shuaige were escorted to the palace that's when they were introduced to the humongous predatory bird known as a hag heron. Which apparently was owned by Wuqi's stewardess Yima.
Once inside the siheyuan of the governor they met with both the statesman and his stewardess. They reported their success of escorting the shipment of armor and weapons from Zi Guangi to Taiyuan. On the way they mention being ambushed by Oma troops, which resulted in a casualty on their part and several deaths of Oma soldiers. Avani said the barbarians ran for the hills when they realized they angered the Avatar herself. This report further proved of Oma Kingdom soldiers and their presence deeper in Li Jun county. This was bad news for Taiyuan and Fort Li Jun.
Governor Wuqi was however puzzled as to how they avoided the sight of the military fort that housed a ton of reinforcements. This further worried him about a siege of the city in the imminent future. In the midst of their meeting Congxiong burst through the living quarter doors to meet with the Avatar. He was previously told the Avatar would be present at a meeting by his mother. Congxiong was arrested by the guards of the governor and tossed out of the palace. However while he was dodging them and resisting arrest he extended an invitation to the Avatar that evening to the Reveler's Den. Where Congxiong planned to throw her an event, Avani was hesitant at first of attending the gathering as she was anti-social.
The Reveler's Den[]
She finally decides to accept the invitation after she discusses the situation with Shuaige on their way to the Military Sector. Shuaige shares his distaste for Avani going to events that distract her from the war outside the walls of the city. He mentions that she needs to be training and preparing for an assault on the city in day now. But Avani convinces him that she's never had a social experience outside of political gatherings with the Royal Family.
Evening comes and she finds herself at the Reveler's Den, while there she runs into Airen who coincidentally happened to show up at the same time to enjoy a night of relaxation. As they enter the top floor of the den, Congxiong sees Airen and his guest are together after they had a heated argument hours before the den. Congxiong has the flavor Airen ordered switched to mucuna to sedate Airen, that way he could have his way with the Avatar.
Once Airen was sedated with the hookah and in an unescapable high, Congxiong fed Avani baijiu a famous drink in the Haijun Kingdom. This liquor drink made her more sociable as the night went on. However, she got drunker with each jig she swallowed, eventually to a point of drunken stupor. Congxiong attempted to take advantage of Avani at the Den, but his efforts were thwarted by her past life Avatar Hansuke. Who possessed her body temporarily and kissed Congxiong, and minutes later slapped him with a water whip. To the crowd's dismay Congxiong cursed her with dishonor at the same time Shuaige came to the rescue and stepped in for his friend. While confused as to why Airen was drugged while a drunk Avani was being verbally assaulted by the nobleman.

Abilities[]
Avatar Avani was known to be a master of all four elements and even of the Avatar State being able to enter and exit it at any time. She spent her first twenty years mastering the elements and succeeded in mastering the Avatar State in a year under Taika's spiritual mentorship.
Earthbending[]
While it is known that Avani mastered earthbending it is unknown how powerful she is with her native element. However, Earth King Shuicheng recommended that her father Jifu became her master instead of White Lotus member Gomo. Avani first used her earthbending to cheat against Taobing in a spar fist fight. Then later used it in battle against Gan's brigade while in the Avatar State, where she caused an earthquake.

While it is known that Avani mastered firebending it is unknown how powerful she is with this element. However, Earth King Shuicheng recommended that her master should be Taika, a member of the Order of the White Lotus. Avani first used her firebending in a sparring match against Master Taika, but then cheated with earthbending when she was losing.
Airbending[]
While it is known that Avani mastered airbending it is unknown how powerful she is with this element. However, Earth King Shuicheng recommended that her airbending master should be Grand Lotus Tseten, the leader of the Order of the White Lotus at the time. Avani first used her airbending against Gan's brigade while she was in the Avatar State. Along with creating an even stronger blast with Fangzhu during the skirmish.
Waterbending[]
While it is known that Avani mastered waterbending it is unknown how powerful she is with this element. However, Earth King Shuicheng recommended that her master be a female member of the Order of the White Lotus. Avani first used her waterbending to against Gan's brigade, she formed a ring of water around herself that would use water tentacles to lash out.
Healing[]
When Taobing was injured after the skirmish between Captain Qishi's company and Gan's brigade, he was shot in the shoulder with an arrow. After Airen extracted the wound to bandage it up. Avani instead offered to heal Taobing's left shoulder, which impressed her superiors and her brothers-in-arms.

Avatar Rong Yan's Life[]
Avatar Avani appears to Rong Yan when he masters the Avatar State, along with Keirou and Arnav. Avani was first mentioned by Governor Geju Diaoyu's daughter Ai, who's studying to be an Avatar historian. She mentioned to Rong Yan how much she loved and admired him in a past life for what Avani did throughout her lifetime.
Avatar Korra's Life[]
During the time when Avatar Korra, had lost her bending to Amon, she had returned to the Southern Water Tribe or the compound she first was in, where Katara, had tried her best to heal Korra.
To no avail, Korra had left to cry at a snowy cliff, where she thought that Tenzin had approached her. When in fact it was Avatar Aang. She stood up, as Aang was conversing with her, and then all of Korra's past lives appeared.
