Angakkuq was a prince of the Northern Water Tribe, brother of Chief Igutsak, who together with the Bhanti tribe founded the order of the Water Sages. In Agna Qel'a he is called "Angakkuq the Spiritual".

History

Angakkuq was born as the younger brother of Igutsak, who was the heir to the throne. In his youth, he spent a lot of time in the Spirit Oasis, meditating and caring for it.

When the Bhanti people arrived at the North Pole, Angakkuq became very interested in their culture and spirituality. He enjoyed learning from them, and even befriended one of the Bhanti sages, Sheng Peng. Eventually he reached the island of Bhanti, where he learned deeply from the tribe. During his travels, he also saw the Fire Sages and Earth Sages. He also spent some time on an island inhabited by the Water Tribesmens. He sensed the spirituality of the place and later returned to that island, making it the Water Tribe Sacred Island.

After returning to Agna Qel'a, Angakkuq decided to establish a spiritual order of the Water Tribe, and presented his idea to his brother, Chief Igutsak, who accepted the project. Angakkuq, with Sheng Peng's help, founded the Water Sages, which were led by a Spiritual Council, unlike the Fire Nation, where the Fire Sages were led by a High Sage, and the Earth Kingdom, where there was no official leader or leadership body for the Earth Sages.

Legacy

After his death, Angakkuq was revered in the Northern Water Tribe for hundreds of years. He was posthumously given the title of "Great Sage," although there is no official leader of the Spiritual Council, and he is often called Angakkuq the Spiritual.
