Amun was the 134th Avatar and the 36th Air Avatar.
History[]
Life as Avatar[]
Amun was born and raised in the northern air temple, like a few male airbending avatars, into an era of of extreme tension between benders and nonbenders, consumed by hatred for benders as a whole (despite being an airbender himself, as each air nomad child was born an airbender.), he rejected mastering the other three elements, even though he still mastered the avatar state, he eventually gathered nonbenders, from all over the world, and formed a crime group in 4262 BG at age 20, which was an ancient version of the Equalists, with himself as the leader, which just like the equalists, advocated for the eradication of bending once and for all, he eventually organized the Lion Turtle Hunts, when members of his organization, brainwashed by his propaganda, began to drive the Lion Turtles to extinction, with many lion turtles being killed by his orders, which paved the way for the extinction of the lion turtles, by Avatar Aang's time, there was only one lion turtle remaining in 100 AG, whom Aang received energybending from, whom he used to take away Fire Lord Ozai's bending, Amun also had no airbending tattoos, unlike all other airbending avatars in all of history as he rejected becoming an airbending master due to his disdain for bending which influneced the Equalists's goals, rather, Amun had a tattoo on his forehead that was the same as the symbol of the equalists, except without the red circle, which glowed when he got into the Avatar State, he also organized the Badgermole Hunts, when members of his organization, tried to drive the badgermoles to extinction, by hunting them, also, his actions as the Avatar led to the airbending ability of flight being lost forever until Guru Laghima rediscovered it in 3829 BG.
He, also with his members, stormed the water tribe and tried to kill the moon and ocean spirits to destroy waterbending, but that attempt failed, alongside the attempt to drive the entire badgermoles to extinction.
After Death[]
Amun's texts were eventually studied by Amon (Noatak, son of former crime lord Yakone in Republic City.), when he was in the Avatar Catacombs, a location in the southern air temple that hosts tombs (crypts) of every avatar that ever lived, which led him to begin the Equalists.
When Avatar Korra was asleep in her home at night after defeating the Equalists, Amun appeared to her in a dream, who deemed her a failure as the Avatar, Korra was shocked, as at her time, Avatar Amun had long passed into legend.
