By King Bumis Heir Part of the Avatar: The Legacy of Rong Yan continuity.

Aloi is a major character in the fanon Avatar: The Legacy of Rong Yan, and is Unaraq's love interest at the end of Book 2 through Book 3.

History[]

Early Life[]

Aloi, was born to an unknown nun at the Eastern Air Temple, in Autumn 677 BG. At the age of five, with other young Air Nomad females she was given an apple to give to a baby Sky Bison. She approached one and gave it the apple, they immediately became lifelong companions and best friends.

With her guardian nun she spent five months learning how to ride, steer, and take care of her sky bison. At the age of eight, her guardian nun had taught a class of beginner airbending which is where the young girls mastered the first five or ten levels of airbending.

At the age 15, she learned how to glide on her staff that was given to her when she entered the class. It took Aloi, three months to master gliding. At the age 17, she mastered airbending and mastered the defensive and offensive use of her staff, and received her airbending tattoos.

Marking her and some of her friends, as airbending masters. They were able to teach if they chose to.

The Festival of Four Winds[]

Aloi, along with monks and nuns from the other temples come to the Southern Air Temple to celebrate the Festival of Four Winds that is celebrated each year by the Air Nomad society.

Each year they meet at one of the four air temples, party, and eventually find a partner during the three day celebration and make love. The monks and nuns all leave after the festival is over back to their home temples.

Separated from each other, nine months later, more Air Nomad children come into the world. The cycle of life for Air Nomads begins anew each year. Aloi, had rejected each man that had approached her as she had eyed Rong Yan, when he wasn't looking.

She chooses Rong Yan, and introduces herself to him. Rong Yan later finds out something about her that he finds very interesting besides her natural beauty. She happens to be a unique bender that apparently one or two of Rong Yan's past lives had possessed this bending ability.

Aloi, was a soundbender, she explains soundbending to Rong Yan, and tells her story of how she found out of soundbending. He later asks during the party if she would teach Rong Yan soundbending, Aloi agrees but he must first master airbending or Rong Yan wouldn't understand soundbending.

They both fall in love with each other but never notice it until later.

Invasion of the Southern Air Temple[]

When the Southern Air Temple, went under attack by General Senlin and his allies the rebels of both Water Tribes. Aloi lent aid to her brothers of the temple and helped repel the invaders.

Yong Ten read a scroll, that had come from General Senlin, former general of the Council of Five and Earth Kingdom Military, and escaped convict of the Ba Sing Se Prison. He wants to fight Rong Yan, and knows that he is currently at the Southern Air Temple, and his plan is going well, since the Avatar is still "weak", Rong Yan has only mastered fire and air.

General Senlin, is only a day away from the temple. The Council of Elders have an audience with the courier. He tells them that Senlin, and a Water Tribe man along with other Water Tribesmen have razed a village. Killing various numbers of innocents. Only sparing him, to deliver the message to the temple.

Knowing of Air Nomad lifestyle, he sent the Air Nomad to make a scroll for reinforcements to Taku. As he returned, he had given the scroll to the courier, and Yong Ten escorted the courier to Xi Tong village. From there the courier had ridden on the back of his ostrich horse to the city of Taku. Where Captain Wei, is still stationed at for another week.

Rong Yan, had spoken to Avatar Ku Tei, who had given him advice to not attack Former General Senlin directly, because he was not ready. He then spoke with Avatar Kwan Chun, who had told him that he must do whatever it takes to eliminate threats that harm the world, but then told him the exact same thing as Ku Tei had told him. Though he must wait since he only just mastered two elements and has not mastered all four.

Kwan Chun had told Rong Yan to wait, but before Kwan Chun, had vanished as he also told Rong Yan, that he was always there, when he needed him.

Captain Wei, and his small army were the resistance against General Senlin and his forces. Though as the courier had past by the general on his ostrich horse, the general and his forces stopped for a brief moment. Then the general whispered into the ear of one his archers, who had grinned wickedly, aimed, and shot the courier in the head, killing him.

During the invasion, Jampo was the fourth Air Nomad that was struck dead, Rong Yan, Senge, Aloi, and Yong Ten all cried out his name, but he was gone. All of them cried, and Rong Yan closed his eyes releasing a tear. The death of Jampo, had triggered Rong Yan's Avatar State.

The invaders were in trouble, when instead of seeing the Fire Avatar in the Avatar State. The airbenders bowed to the presence of the Air Avatar that had taken form from the Avatar's body. It was Avatar Kwan Chun, who ended the invasion at the Southern Air Temple, and blew General Senlin and Palartok along with their men off the temple mountain.

The Air Nomads saw the invasion, and the Avatar; Kwan Chun's furious grew and he realized that someone had invaded his homeland where he grew up in. He had taken possession of Rong Yan's body, and defended his home from the invaders.

Falling to their deaths, General Senlin reacted quickly by encasing Palartok and himself in earth to break their falls. Location of the Avatar was unknown to them soon after they had come out of the earth.

Southern Water Tribe[]

Arriving at the Southern Water Tribe, Rong Yan and his friend Aloi sought audience with Chief Unirak. The chief gives him a warm greeting to his city. Rong Yan asks for waterbending teacher, Unirak calls out his children and introduces them to the Avatar.

He grants him his daughter as his waterbending teacher claiming that she is a magnificent bender and will be a great mentor for the Avatar. He had also granted the Avatar the skills and aid of his son Unaraq who is a fine warrior.

The next day, Unaraq introduced Aloi and Rong Yan, to his crew. Which later in Book Two became part of the story and conflicted with one of the benders of the crew.

Soundbending Master[]

Team Avatar arrives in Ni Juo, where they spend time there for about two weeks. They accomplish a few odd jobs while in town. Tanaraq gets into an argument with Unaraq and slaps him after he calls her a drama queen after defending Aloi.

After this he gets angry and he leaves while his sister instantly regrets hitting him. He wanders off and eventually finds Aloi. Who is also angry at Rong Yan for defending Tanaraq, Aloi, however, finds herself in a love triangle. While Rong Yan is clueless to the whole thing Unaraq takes advantage of this because he grows to like Aloi. They converse and hold hands while they walk through the village.

They find themselves in front of the house of a widow after she shrieks, soldiers had stolen her money. Even after the law in the Oma Kingdom states that widows of soldiers don't pay taxes because their husbands paid with their service to the kingdom.

While Rong Yan and Tanaraq are looking for a missing girl who was kidnapped alongside an old man. With clues given by superstitious citizens who believe the thundering sounds from the mountains were the cause of the disappearances.

Rong Yan and Tanaraq venture to the mountains to find the sound but in the end, only find an abandoned cabin with a firepit. They leave and meet a man named Beiyin who agrees to help them and tells them his father was kidnapped by the soldiers who are supposed to defend the town. He didn't pay his weekly taxes so they're holding his father at ransom. This is when they learn that the girl was kidnapped by the soldiers as well.

The next day the soldiers arrive to rob the widow blind but Aloi and Unaraq are there to stop it. Aloi places a barrier around her and the widow's house and produces a psychic scream that shatters the soldiers' eardrums. The men run away back to their hideout Beiyin, Rong Yan, Tanaraq make their way to the screech off to the northwest and find Unaraq and Aloi there.

Beiyin takes them to a cave where he saw men patrolling he's been scouting the area for a week now. Team Avatar and Beiyin assault the cave and incapacitate all the soldiers, while Beiyin grabs their identification papers and Tanaraq, breaks the chains holding the girl and Beiyin's father with ice.

A week later they return to the cabin separately and Rong Yan and Tanaraq meet the hermit. Rong Yan gasps and is surprised when he sees that the tattoos around the hermit's body are similar to an airbender's but different. The man introduces himself as a Vibrant One a secret organization of soundbenders.

Rong Yan remembers when Aloi told him the story of the soundbenders, eventually Aloi and Unaraq bump into them. Aloi faints as soon as she meets eyes with Giman the soundbender. Most Vibrant Ones have airbender tattoos but children born and raised by parents in the Vibrant Ones master airbending and soundbending and so carry different arrows.

Giman teaches Aloi and Rong Yan through another week of soundbending lessons and helps them make up. Rong Yan learns that Giman can project his spirit with his most trusted friends, he suggests Rong Yan to learn the ability. Rong Yan meets with his past lives who tell him that he could learn if his level of spirituality was high enough or if he takes the pilgrimage from Mun Jin who can help him.

Rong Yan tried to contact Mun Jin but Xi Tong appears instead telling Rong Yan that summoning Mun Jin requires an immense power of spirituality. Mun Jin is an Avatar for legendary proportions and Rong Yan's frustrated because he can't speak with this particular past life.

Northern Water Tribe[]

Team Avatar comes to the Northern Water Tribe after spending two weeks in Ni Juo, Shiwei and a few days in Jun Lao, Bai Da. Upon arrival, they meet with Cupun and he relays news to them. Rong Yan learns that General Senlin is still alive but allows Rong Yan to enter his kashim to speak with his past lives for wisdom.

While Tanaraq reunites with Tulok and Aloi and Unaraq spend more time together. Rong Yan is again frustrated that he can't speak with Mun Jin. He feels like a failure but when he focuses hard enough he summons Arrluk who tells him of a mantra he could repeat for some time that might remove the blockage that's preventing him from contacting Mun Jin.

Unaraq stays behind to chat with his sister's future father-in-law, they both go fishing while Unaraq asks Cupun questions about being chief. Just to get a different opinion other than his own father's perspective on things.

When Amak's body was found and the investigation deemed it to be an assassination, Cupun anointed Noa in charge of what happens next. The unrest occurred in Cupun's palace an hour later, Ambassador Dashi was accused of espionage and arrested despite having diplomatic immunity. Elder Noa and the other nobles agreed to debate on what occurs next in his estate. He even went as far as to threaten Ambassador Thod and Avatar Rong Yan with arrest.

The next morning while Cupun and Tulok were in a meeting with the Court of Elders. Sokka and the other guards found Amak's body after a woman discovered it in the alley. The investigations done by the other guards after Sokka left suspected that white jade poison was used.

The test consisted of a droplet of white jade poison mixing with a drop of blood if it coagulated then it was the poison the man suspected. Sokka had run to Elder Noa's estate to find Cupun and Tulok and give them the grim news.

The royal guards found the planted evidence the dagger of Qianda Kingdom design, the passports and the scroll with the forged signature of Earth King Qiang Zhen.

When Sokka arrived at the meeting he disrupted it to speak with the chief and the prince. After he gave the news it sparked outrage and panic amongst the elders. Which led to events that Cupun and Tulok were unaware of while they arranged the burial of their fallen relative.

Rong Yan was arrested and wasn't seen for an entire week, he projected his spirit to Aloi one morning. And spilled the beans while Cupun had a meeting with Unirak who just arrived in the city she ran in and told Cupun what had happened. He didn't believe her until Naartok vouched for her and mentioned everything she said was true.

She also attended Tanaraq and Tulok's wedding at the end of the ceremony after she ate some food, her and Unaraq ran off to a balcony alone. Where they watched the aurora borealis and kissed under the moonlight.

Three years later, they traveled all over to the Earth Kingdom together while Rong Yan masters waterbending with Naartok. They learn of all sorts of different things when they meet Rong Yan they tell him of it. But they spend three years together in love, Rong Yan projects his spirit to speak with them and interrupts their attempt at coitus. Rong Yan disappears and reappears to remind them of something but they yell at him to go away.

New Earthbending Master[]

When Aloi and Unaraq received a message from the Avatar they decided to meet him in Han Tui. Where they were expected by Sun Wu. However, when they arrived Sun Wu had died that morning and instead were invited over to the governor's estate where they patiently waited the arrival of their friend who they hadn't seen in three years. When Rong Yan showed up they reunited with him, Diaoyu invited Aloi and Unaraq to stay in his guest house.

To the dismay of Unaraq, Aloi agreed to the invitation while he argued with her about privacy now that Rong Yan will be their house mate. She ignored Unaraq's wishes and lectured him instead that evening Rong Yan returned at a time when Aloi and Unaraq were involved in activities and he ruined it for Aloi by knocking on their bedroom door. The next morning Unaraq was annoyed while Aloi told him to buzz off if he didn't like what happened last night.

Aloi was concerned about Rong Yan's newest friend Jushi, he was new and wondered why Rong Yan chose him of all people. But she too was amazed at the level of skill the bounty hunter had when it came to dueling Juedou, Diaoyu's guard captain in a duel. As the governor wanted to see if Jushi was even a so-called master.

Omashu[]

Aloi's visit to Omashu with Team Avatar was far more unique, while Unaraq, Rong Yan, and Jushi got along with King Gao. Aloi grew to befriend the seemingly harmless prince of the Oma Kingdom, Hui. Hui was born disabled he never learned to utter a single word and was identified as a mute. Physicians reported to the King that his son's larynx never fully developed. Hui went out of his way for the Air Nomad girl because he had a crush on her which Jushi promised he'd convince Aloi to go on a date with her if he helped him get Hui out of the cage.

When Hui learned that Aloi was in a relationship he threw a tantrum that was cut short by his father. Which resulted in his punishment and stripped title until further notice. Aloi convinced Gao to free Hui and they became good friends much to the dismay of her boyfriend Unaraq. Hui even taught Aloi basic Kingsmen Sign Language over the course of two weeks.

Relationship Issues[]

After the argument in Omashu, Unaraq and Aloi had a growing wound in their relationship. During their visit to Bei Fu they were not speaking. Jushi mentioned of a spirit known as the Heartseeker on Yaoping Mountain in Yunan province near the village of Yaoping. Apparently, the spirit was demoted to immortal when the Haijun Kingdom adopted the Oma Kingdom's deity Shanshen an elemental god of earth.

It is said, that the hopeless romantics or those with relationship issues flocked to Yue Lao for guidance or even for a love potion to make someone their true love. But often that came at a price, it is said he wears a red string around his wrist which he uses to invisibly tie two potential lovers together.

Aloi and Jushi ventured to Yaoping mountain because Aloi was on a quest to save her relationship with Unaraq. She and Jushi met the red-skinned immortal of love, Yue Lao, who gave Aloi advice on her relationship and offered her a love potion which she could obtain from a store in the town or deal with her relationship.

Aloi took the potion option and Jushi tried his luck at the being and inquired about his future if he would die alone or eventually get married. The spirit gave him a prediction of the future but then caught himself and then claimed it to be a lie. He told Jushi that he was going to have a son that would be the spiritual adviser of the next Avatar.

When Aloi and Jushi, returned to Bei Fu, she hid the potion from Unaraq and planned to dump the contents into his tea. She hesitated in the moment when suddenly Unaraq who grew impatient with his tea walked over to the kitchen to find her suspicious and hiding something from him. He first grew to assume that she attempted to poison him but she confessed her intentions and told him it was a love potion from Yue Lao. She wanted to give it to him in his tea so that he would fall in love with her again.

Unaraq stared at the vial and agreed that he would imbibe its contents so that they can stay together forever but in the end Aloi broke the potion instead. She would rather have her relationship with the prince be tested through time than take his will from him.

Ba Sing Se[]

Team Avatar arrives in Ba Sing Se, with the assistance of Ambassador Dashi does Rong Yan get to see the Earth King. Once meeting the Earth King, he summarizes events that are occuring around the world as he journeyed and mastered the elements. Qiang Zhen shares information and mentions the Fire Nation princess is in the city. Qiang Zhen invited Team Avatar to the annual parties held on Laogai Island.

Before the party, Aloi was able to reunite with her best friend Yua. She threatened Rong Yan to treat Yua right or else, to which Rong Yan tittered nervously. Aloi along with her friends and Yua made it to the celebration on Laogai Island, while Rong Yan was off on his own personal trip. Aloi a few hours later, saw Yua saddened and she thought Rong Yan had done something but he left to speak with his past lives. While her friend Yua received terrible news from home.

The Siege of the Impenetrable City[]

Aloi volunteered to join the Provincial Guard at the Outer Wall along with Senge and eventually Jushi who was no longer needed by the Council of Five. During the beginning of the battle she refused to fight and instead along with Senge tried to disorient several soldiers from both sides.

Even going as far as conjuring tornadoes to displace the men on the front lines but to no avail the plan hadn't worked. She was forced to fight when Jushi was knocked off his sand spout and was dragged to the infirmary. When she reached the front line Senge was also knocked out unconscious and she remained alone amongst soldiers. Her time to escape came when a horn sounded in the distance and 180,000 reenforcements appeared to relieve the defending forces that were losing the battle of the Outer Wall to the Oma Kingdom.

Life After the Kingsmen Civil War[]

When she arrived to the South Pole was met with a ton of surprises and gifts from the Chieftain on behalf of the crowned Prince. Aloi first met Nuttatatik in person within the palace halls. The woman stormed off for an unknown reason until she pieced it together that Unaraq and this woman had history. When she questioned her boyfriend he only explained that she was arrested for destruction of property. And described his ex-lover as possessive and controlling.

In the span of the next few weeks she was convinced by Unaraq that the people will love her and helped her overcome a bit of shyness when meeting smaller crowds. He encouraged her to bring ideas to his father and maybe he'll take her to the next court meeting. Unirak liked her ideas and she was invited for an emergency meetings. Agreeing with Elder Iglutuiruk, she came up with solutions that might help children who need tutors and homeless who desperately need a home.

After the scene she witnessed that was caused by Nuttatatik that led to her second arrest, Aloi was attacked by Unaraq's ex-girlfriend. But Nuttatatik's father stopped the attack before Aloi was harmed. Two days later, Unirak declared Aloi a part of the Royal Family and Unaraq carved a betrothal necklace for her. Uniting them both to be wed. Five years later, she's four months pregnant with Unaraq's child and was invited to Rong Yan and Yua's wedding in the Fire Nation. Aloi attended Rong Yan's wedding and was seen sitting next to a her husband Unaraq, Chieftain Unirak, and Palartok who was released from prison upon the request of the Avatar.

A Lotus in the Snow[]

Three years after breaking up with Nuttatatik, Unaraq encountered his ex-girlfriend Nuttatatik inside the palace halls while he returned from a public appearance with Aloi. She searched for him in the palace after she learned he returned from the Earth Kingdoms. When she attempted to embrace him a royal guard stopped her and warned her of the potential arrest for trespassing. She stormed out of the palace when she saw her ex-boyfriend holding hands with Aloi.

Unaraq explained to Aloi that they broke up a few weeks before he left to travel the world with Rong Yan. But refused to explain what happened after they broke up only vaguely mentioning that she was arrested for destruction of property. Unaraq also described his ex-lover as possessive and controlling. In the span of the next few weeks he convince Aloi that the people will love her and helped her overcome a bit of shyness when meeting smaller crowds.

After the scene she witnessed that was caused by Nuttatatik that led to her second arrest, Unirak declared Aloi a part of the Royal Family. And Unaraq carved a betrothal necklace for her. Uniting them both to be wed. Five years later, she's four months pregnant with Unaraq's child and was invited to Rong Yan and Yua's wedding in the Fire Nation. Unaraq attended Rong Yan's wedding and was seen sitting next to a five month pregnant Aloi, his father, and Palartok who was released from prison upon the request of the Avatar.

Abilities[]

Airbending[]

Air Nomads having a high level of spirituality, each Air Nomad child is born an airbender either male or female. Aloi, was taught and trained in the 37 levels of airbending at the age of eight. Many years passed, when at the age of 17, she passed the 37th level of airbending and passed the tests that followed. After that she received her airbending tattoos.

Soundbending[]

Unlike her sisters at the Eastern Air Temple, Aloi wields a unique bending ability that is rare in history and few Air Nomads in the world hone the skill. The ability to soundbend. Controlling the sound in the air currents for the use of offense, defense, and in a beneficial way.

She first learned about the art of soundbending in her history lectures by one of the nuns. Aloi, was fascinated by her ancestors who wielded this mighty bending ability.

One night, she snuck into a library they had in the Eastern Air Temple and had found a book about the history of soundbending. The book was created by a scholar from the city of Ba Sing Se.

She had taken her sky bison and traveled to the city of Ba Sing Se, to speak with this scholar. The scholar happened to be an Air Nomad who had left the temple, and abandoned the monastic and nomadic lifestyle, to become a scholar and a musician.

Staying with the scholar, she had learned more about the soundbenders, and the professor had gifted her with soundbending scrolls. From there she departed back to the Eastern Air Temple and began to practice the forms without supervision.

Sometimes while practicing at night she would make sonic boom noises and awaken all the women at the temple. One night after a year had passed that she had began to learn soundbending, she had already been a master at it. She practiced on creating a sonic boom, successfully doing so, she again awoke the sisters of the Eastern Air Temple.

The Council of Elders, wanted to have an audience with Aloi and wanted to know why that every time there was loud noise outside they had discovered that she would always be outside. Aloi had lied to the Council of Elders, that she had rediscovered the ability to soundbend. Knowing that if she told them the truth they wouldn't tolerate her leaving to the Earth Kingdom without permission.

They did not believe Aloi, that soundbending was rare and there was no known airbenders that could soundbend. She demonstrated making a medium sound, and used a soft sound blast to knock over ten stacked books.

The Council of Elders, could not believe their minds they were all shocked at this. Aloi, was a soundbender, during their whole lives they have not seen or heard of a soundbender. They asked if she could teach of class of soundbending.

Aloi, decided that she'd keep the ability to her self but rather teach the council of elders instead. Within months the elderly women mastered soundbending.

When traveling with Avatar Rong Yan, they had met a Vibrant One who was a master of Deception. Giman was his name, and he willingly taught the two a little bit more of Soundbending.

Towards the end of their training session he had lent them a wooden chest that contained Soundbending scrolls. With these scrolls they must teach themselves and master Soundbending.

Trivia[]

  • Aloi's name was inspired from an Air Nomad girl who was friends with Aang, before the Air Nomad Genocide had taken place. Being that she was considered the last airbender, during the time when she went into hiding. Fire Lord Azulon, in this fanon that I read later killed Aloi and Kuzon.
  • At one point I want to put Aloi, Rong Yan and Tanaraq in a love triangle that conflicted through both girls wanting the Avatar. But the idea was scrapped after writing the fourth chapter.
