Lord Aang is a male dominant Air Nomad born in 16 BG and the Avatar's airbending master. He is the love interest and husband of Toph Beifong, the father of Aura, Celeste, and Tempest, and the adopted uncle of Saoirse, Amaya,and Yue ll.

Shortly before the beginning of the Hundred Year War, Aang was frozen in an iceberg for a hundred years by the spirit of his childhood best friend and former Airbender Avatar, Aisling Soren; he later emerged, still biologically twelve years old, into a world engulfed by war. During his absence, the Fire Nation had waged war upon the other nations and managed to completely wipe out the pacifistic Air Nomads.

After Ozai's victory over the Phoenix Queen, Aang began a romantic relationship with his close friend, Toph Beifong. The couple eventually married and raised a family of three children: Aura, the eldest, a dual earth and airbender, Tempest, an airbender, and the youngest, Celeste, an earthbender.

Aang was born to two Air Nomads in 12 BG. Sometime after his birth, Aang was adopted and raised by monk Gyatso, who he loved like a father. He was also a really close friend of Aisling, the then airbender Avatar, who died two years later from illness. As an Air Nomad, Aang traveled extensively around the world and made friends in all the nations. During his childhood, Aang was housed, raised, and educated at the Southern Air Temple, under the guardianship of monk Gyatso, who served as his father figure, counselor, and tutor. After some time, he and several other young Air Nomad boys were taken to the Eastern Air Temple, where they each chose a sky bison as their lifelong companion. Aang approached his soon-to-be sky bison Appa and offered him an apple, which Appa accepted, thus marking the start of their deep and lifelong friendship.

However, when he was twelve years old, Aang ran away from home on Appa's back, but the two got caught in a severe thunderstorm. The two were saved the the spirit of Aisling, who froze them in a block of ice for 100 years. During this time, the Water Tribe and Earth Kingdom Avatars, Kuruk and Kalika, passed away in either their late teens or early twenties, with Kalika dying in 56 AG.

Initially, Aang was annoyed at Toph and her devil-may-care attitude since it made him think that she didn't care much about teaching Ozai earthbending.
