Nickelodeon has decided that their site doesn’t matter anymore and has made it an hallow, empty page with no more flash games of any sort and no fun. RIP Avatar flash games.

We need it! A more realistic concept from the emotions and friendship of these characters like boys turning into mans and girls turning into women. These characters are nothing but kids traveling into the adult unforgiving world filled with serious problems for spirits sake! think about that! bryke said themselves that they would go deeper in the characters than the cartoon version! With netflix they can do it!
I would just add here that both ATLA and TLoK had a significant following amongst older viewers regardless of the rating, so the idea it would be "just 4 kids" or the rating would limit it to that is demonstrably false.
Regarding the closure of the site, I don't think too much can be read into their actions, and the fact we are getting a new series doesn't exactly suggest Nick are completely done with the franchise. In all my time I have been an Avatar fan, the site has never been particularly active, so it doesn't surprise me they would pull resources from something that never really got off the ground to begin with.
meh! nick is far less concern about the avatar franchise than others show on their channel program. Nick heavily advertises more on other shows than avatar even in it's glory days! I guess after the 2010 film it got nick by the balls as why they can't put money on it! it's too risky as a business! and if they can't resolve the problem then avatar franchise isn't worth the money anymore. their only option is to sell it to another studio or something! years is going by fast! we avatar fans are hungry for more content!!!!!!!!!! believe me we all do!
And if the live action series does NOT make the money and ratings than nick will swipe it under the rug and move on to the 2020s! with NEW shows!
No. They know putting an Avatar series on Netflix actually make them more revenue even after giving their share to Netflix. Cable is dying, that's why we're seeing networks partnering with more and more streaming sites.
True but making a live action adaptation isn't cheap. you can agrue that doing special effect is getting more easy every year but still cost a lot of money! we live in a world of greed! money is power! who ever funded the live action remake is a mad bastard! kudos to them! but in the end the ratings and how much views they get is key that they didn't waste their money. if not then....rip avatar series. lol i hope it does so fucking GREAT that TLOK will probably get a live action too! xd

That is not true. The Legend of Korra, multiple trilogies of graphic novels, several companion books, and an upcoming series on Netflix have all been released or announced after the film flopped. It absolutely did not destroy the franchise.
The fact is, streaming is becoming more and more popular for how people consume content, particularly within the demographic(s) that Avatar appeals strongest to. Of course there is a risk it will be cancelled, but Avatar already has a strong and well established fanbase that will devour whatever is put out. Established works carry far less risk than completely original content, which is why production and film companies have been leaning more towards making sequels and remakes of existing franchises recently. Whatever your perspective on that, Netflix clearly thinks the franchise is worth investing their money in.
well i hope so. but it's worth a try at least! i'm more worried about the cast that'll play the characters most of all. the acting part most be "key" to become successful. live action is really HARD to do! kudos to netflix!

I think it will work out with the creators on board.

A common critique of The Legend of Korra was that the writing wasn't as good, and this is often attributed to the fact that Aaron Ehasz, who was the head writer on Avatar, was not involved in Korra. Given that the remake will likely follow the established story pretty closely, I am not too worried even if the creators decide to write every episode as in Korra. My biggest concern is any significant changes or additions they decide to make to the story, and how well these will fit or make sense.
They turned the page into a big fat advertisement for the nick app. Pretty sad, since a lot of the stuff that could only be found on the site are now gonna be gone.
