A new trailer for The Last Airbender has very recently appeared, almost unannounced and certainly unexpectedly. It is again around two minutes long, but mostly repeats what has already been shown in previous trailers, particularly from the first theatrical trailer, but has some limited new footage, with some more dialogue and character interaction.

New footage shown in this trailer include:

    • Aang holding an Air Nomad relic showing the Airbending symbol, possibly prayer beads
    • Katara using Waterbending to defend Aang from Zuko's Firebending
    • Katara attempting to calm Aang down from the Avatar State, echoing the episode this episode
    • Aang bringing out his Air Nomad glider to escape from Zuko's Ship, echoing The Avatar Returns
    • Katara and Sokka surrounded…

This time, the trailer will be attached to Iron Man 2. Since Iron Man 2 is being released on May 7, it is very likely - almost certain, really - that the next trailer will be released on a similar date. The length of the trailer, and what will be contained in it, are as of yet unknown.

You can find all the trailers so far released here.

The Winter Olympics TV spot for The Last Airbender was shown yesterday, on Saturday, the 20th of February. It is also now available on Avatar Wiki, as per usual. The new trailer mostly repeated earlier footage from the full theatrical trailer and the thirty second Super Bowl advertisement, but there were two brief segments that had not been seen earlier. One is of Aang airbending and moving backwards into another room, and the other is Aang being surrounded by and preparing to fight off a large group of Fire Nation soldiers.

This new trailer is nothing too special, but the release of so many trailers in the same month indicates the Paramount is now building up its promotional campaign for the film's release, just a few months away.

    Jackson Rath…

The Super Bowl ad, due to be shown on February 9, has arrived online. UGO posted the 30-second trailer, and it is now available on Avatar Wiki. Shown on this article and in various other places on Avatar Wiki, the trailer features an abundance of action, with bending battles and larger panoramas. The Avatar State has been shown for the first time. The response to the ad so far has been overwhelmingly positive.

One concern stated by some fans is that Appa appears to be missing from the trailer; however, UGO believes, and they are almost certainly correct, that Appa is lurking in the background. The trailer certainly still leaves plenty of gaps in our knowledge of what the film will be like - but of course, they will be revealed in due course. …

According to Advertising Age, Paramount Pictures has purchased ad time during this year’s Super Bowl for The Last Airbender. Paramount also bought time for their other summer tent-pole film, Iron Man 2, as well as Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island. Last year’s Super Bowl pulled in an impressive 97 million viewers. That is a huge amount of exposure of Airbender if the ratings this year are the same. The commercial will likely only be between 30 and 35 seconds long, and will air sometime during the first or second quarter. Super Bowl XLIV will air February 7th on CBS. The Super Bowl spot has not come online yet.
