Linking to Avatar Wiki

Hi! This is The 888th Avatar, who many will know from the Avatar Wiki. I have a question to ask the administration of this wiki. Why isn't there a link on the main page to Avatar Wiki? Before any user can write fanon, they must have knowledge of Avatar background, so it is wise to link to Avatar Wiki. We link to this wiki on the main page, so I ask this favour be returned. Thanks. Hmmm, I'm a little sceptical of the orange font at the top. I think black or blue would blend in more with the rest of the main page. The 888th Avatar ^(Talk) 08:32, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

I find that it compliments the default skin of the Canon wiki well, since it's practically the same orange, and it grabs your attention because it doesn't blend in.

If you should use black or blue, make sure it's just that and not black on blue or blue on black; in the "We have three new admins..." notice, it is impossible for me to discern the blue text without highlighting it.

Featured Article

It may be better to have "Featured Fanon." It sounds cooler, and everyone else does featured articles anyway. Fanon encompasses the components of fan projects as well, so it can still be used for featuring individual articles. For the time being, I recommend Fanon:Avatar: The Abridged Series, Fanon:Inspector Iroh, or Fanon:Zhao of the Water Tribe. Someone should go over Puppet Bender, it seems respectable enough.

A-class Articles

Do you think we should do what they do on Avatar Wiki with "good articles"? We could have all the requirements we do for featured articles, but we could also A-class articles that are not finished if they are running smoothly. What do people think? Vaznock - Talk 14:25, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

No. At that rate, we'd end up becoming just like AW, which we never wanna do. If anything, we'll come up with a different system called "Good Articles," which could work, but A-class articles is, as you might not know, what needs to be done to make an article Featured. So we can't do that since that's not how we vote on things. Our system is simpler. Protection of main page

Hi, as you guys probably know, I have experience with main page design and would like to make similar improvements from time to time on the Avatar Fanon main page. Okay, now that that is done, can you guys tell me:

• Do you want to use tabs? Or would you prefer the traditional navigation system? Either way, I'm going to include new list of fanon stories, because those are difficult to find from the main page.
• Do you prefer two even columns, or the column widths that Avatar Wiki uses? Personally, I prefer the 50-50 split.
• What colour do you want to be dominant on the main page? I'm not a fan of the black, because the links do not render well.
• Are there any additional features you would like on your main page?

• I go with the 50-50
• The wiki is based on spirit world, so if you don't want black, some other colour that fits the spirit world may do.
• You know, FF, FA, Quote of the week

• I agree with the links for black, but there are only two other colors we could use, white or gray, and they both suck, so I say we keep black for now.
• Basically everything we already have, though a featured picture would be nice.

Fanon AD template

I have thinking lately that some Fanon, need some more advertisement. For, some of us have not been featured as of yet. So, i propoes a template that has Fanon links, any one can join and add their fanon. I suggest it is posted on the front fanon page, to advertise better. A preview, we can change it if we need to, later.--

This suggestion is okay in my opinion, but before you apply it, at least change it to the fanon portal's styling, or ask me to do that for you. Fanon help page?

I was thinking of a page to help newer fanon authors get started and helpful tips. It could be a "Project" (with the prefix Avatar Wiki). If a new user wants to start a fanon, then I think there should be a page that gives tips. Something like:

To get a good fanon started, organization is key. You can do this by...

Fanon Awards???

Roll out the red carpets, folks - I've been considering it for a while now and have mentioned it at my latest blog post the idea of making a fanon awards. The basis of it is derived off the Emmy awards and the categories are similar, too:

• OUTSTANDING DRAMA SERIES
• OUTSTANDING COMEDY SERIES
• OUTSTANDING NEW SERIES
• OUTSTANDING WRITING IN A DRAMA SERIES
• OUTSTANDING WRITING IN A COMEDY SERIES
• BEST MAIN CHARACTER (MALE)
• BEST MAIN CHARACTER (FEMALE)
• BEST VILLAIN

Among others. Now, here's how it would go down: a small council of trusted fanon users pick out the nominees for each category, then people vote on which one they want to win - one cannot vote for their own story, of course. Then, the awards are given out a page and a special template is given to the user nominated. And a template is placed at the body of the winning page (designed directly after this)

Courage, when you become a fanon admin, you may direct fanon policy. Until then, I'm afraid not. Technically, Waldo, you can. But why would you? A whole new wiki for every individual (large) fanon? But if you do want to create a wiki about PPF, then feel free to! I really believe it's all a matter of free time and personal preference. I actually think Kai actually made a wiki for KR.
