Forums: War Room Cutting Down 'Books' on Front Page Slide

What do we think of cutting down the Comics section on the main page? So instead of each individual part, it would just show the overall story. I feel like there's a lot to scroll through in such a short window, and people will most likely be more interested in clicking into the 'landing page; of each story, rather than each individual part of the comics. It would look like this. RubbleRubble (wallcontribs) 03:44, 20 November 2021 (UTC)

  • Do you mean the sections like "Explore", "Community", "Latest News", etc. that appear in the main page (actually, these sections appear in every wiki page since they are set by default to appear, this is shared by all other wikis/fandoms). Because I didn't understand what you're trying to convey. Yohan Mavely talkAppa Face (Signature Use).png 08:15, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
Yes, support reducing the necessity for people to scroll through all the separate installments. Lady Lostris / 9?cb=20210808202057 SOAP 10:59, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
I agree. Less time to load too. Dcasawang1wall 11:32, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
I don't really get where you're thinking of, but this seems like a good decision. However, I think the page should have easy-to-find links to get to the comics like you initially would've. What they are referring to is the slider on the main page, just below the quote from Janet Varney. Links to each individual installment can be found on the articles for each trilogy, right at the beginning, so these links would be easily found. I support this change. I also support this change. It is also good futureproofing, since they're also adding more comics with Avatar Studios. Zacatero • (Wall) • 15  15 14:39, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
Support the change too. And great apologies, because I hadn't seen the preview image that RubbleRubble had uploaded. Yes, every installment mustn't be present in the slider. One would always like to read the overall story. So, the presence of only complete trilogies is better. Hence, you have my support! I also agree with the others' opinion.Yohan Mavely talkAppa Face (Signature Use).png 17:51, 20 November 2021 (UTC)
As this will create less loading time, I think it is a good decision. Supported. Tibhod (wallcontribs) 5:11, 21 November 2021 (UTC)

Good to see so much support! With the Korra comics, should we do this as well? Currently there are only two Korra comics, so that section isn't as overwhelming, but to keep it as is would be inconsistent, thoughts? RubbleRubble (wallcontribs) 22:36, 21 November 2021 (UTC)

Yes, this should apply to all the graphic novel trilogies (including those of TLOK). In future, there will be another TLOK trilogy coming up, it's confirmed, though it's title isn't announced yet. So, it make even more sense to apply your idea to TLOK trilogies too. Yohan Mavely talkAppa Face (Signature Use).png 11:28, 22 November 2021 (UTC)
I think that this should probably just be done for every graphic novel trilogy from here on out if we're doing it with the existing ones. Although a temporary period of showing them all could help publicize them, if it was done directly after their release Airbending Sprite (Signature Use).png Tibhod Airbending Sprite (Signature Use).pngwall 11:21, 23 November 2021 (UTC)
Maybe put the links to each part as they're released, and replace them with the library edition when that gets published. However, this doesn't help cut down much if we start getting more standalone gns, like the Katara, Toph, and Suki ones. Omnibender - Talk - Contributions 00:28, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
Well, what would we do to combine the standalones? I think your plan works best, Omnibender. Airbending Sprite (Signature Use).png Tibhod Airbending Sprite (Signature Use).pngwall 5:57, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
