Avatar Wiki
Joo Dee This page documents an official Avatar Wiki policy.
It is a widely accepted standard that should normally be followed by all editors.

On Avatar Wiki, user pages are in general used as a user "profile", with information on a user's activities on the wiki, ranging from what pages they edit, what they are editing, what rights they hold, what groups they are a member etc. However, Avatar Wiki does have a number of policies that apply to user pages.

  • No fair use Avatar images unless already used elsewhere: Fair use images of Avatar, that is, any screenshots and images that are copyrighted, can only be used on user pages if the image is already uploaded and is in use elsewhere on the wiki. Only three such images should be used on user pages.
  • No more than four "hotlinked" images in the user space; no more than three "hotlinked" images on the user page itself: The number of "hotlinked" images permitted is in addition to the three fair use images that the user is permitted to use on their user page. "Hotlinking" may only be done from secure, dedicated image hosting websites. ("Hotlinking" refers to showing an image on a page by pasting a direct link to it on this site. "User space" refers to all pages belonging to a particular user that have titles preceded by "User:". These prefixes appear on searches and are also part of the URL shown in your address bar.)
  • No excessive editing of the user page in comparison to other pages and articles: The user page is intended to be a profile of a wiki editor. Avatar Wiki is not a social networking site and it is expected that users who wish to edit regularly not solely focus on their user page.
  • No blacklists of other users: Users should not make a list of users they dislike or wish to discredit on their user page. Avatar Wiki should keep a positive editing environment and users should not blast other users on their user page.
