The Avatar Wiki Standards Council is the group of users responsible for maintaining the quality standards of Avatar Wiki articles. This group organizes articles into classes of quality.

To ensure that the Standards Council is made up of editors and writers of the highest quality who remain active contributors to the site, the positions available are elected by the community. The group will be comprised of maximum 5 members.

Elections are currently CLOSED.

Current Council members:

Procedure[]

  1. Anyone may nominate an article to be promoted to B-Class or A-Class by posting a link to the article. The proposer must support their suggestion(s) with a sensible reason for the promotion nomination for said class.
  2. A Council member will assess the nomination and reasoning provided and decide whether the article should be moved to consideration.
    • If the nomination is rejected, the Council member will provide a thorough reasoning with pointers on what should be improved before the article is eligible for at least B-Class. After a waiting period of 1 month to allow for the improvement of the article by the community, the rejected article can be reconsidered for promotion.
    • If the nomination is accepted, the Council member moves the article to be considered for promotion to the class deemed most appropriate for the article. This class can be different than the one stated in the nomination. If an article nominated for A-Class is only considered sufficient for promotion to B-Class, a specific reason should be given. The Council member does not have to state their opinion on promotion when moving the article to consideration.
  3. The article is considered for promotion by the Standards Council over a one month period.
    • If within one month at least a simple majority of Council members are in agreement on accepting or rejecting promotion, the article is promoted/rejected accordingly.
    • If after one month not all the members have voiced their opinion, promotion is considered based on a majority among those who voted. In the case of a draw, promotion is rejected.
    • If no member gives their opinion within one month, the article is promoted.
  4. If an article is rejected for promotion, a thorough reasoning should again be provided. After a waiting period of 7 days to allow for the suggested improvements to be carried out by the community, the rejected article can be reconsidered for promotion.

A-class articles[]

Article nominations[]

Gender and sexuality in the World of Avatar[]

Since this article's promotion to B-Class, the article has been expanded and improved countless times. I believe now it holds all our current information on the subject, with strong structure and imagery when needed. Thus, I would like to nominate this article to be promoted to A-Class. aeriux 05:02, 20 June 2024 (UTC)

Support Support — This article has become more cohesive after the last edits. Dcasawang1wall 22:11, 17 July 2024 (UTC)

Resistance against Fire Lord Zuko[]

I think this article has all the information there is about the resistance against Zuko and it's very well structured. Some rewording can be made, but that's something easy to fix. Dcasawang1wall 21:07, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Unification wars of the Fire Islands[]

Though short, I would argue that our article on the unification wars of the Fire Islands is well written and currently covers everything known on the topic. As far as our current sourcing goes, the article has reached A-class status. DyingFlameTsui (wallcontribs) 12:34, 14 August 2023 (UTC)

Support Support — I changed the appearances, as I only remember the flashbacks being from S&S 2 and not the whole trilogy. Dcasawang1wall 15:00, 14 August 2023 (UTC)

Varrimovers International[]

Though a fairly new, I think that the Varrimovers International article is in great shape. It is not only well organized and written, but also well sourced and comprehensive. Overall, it meets the requirements for an A-class article. DyingFlameTsui (wallcontribs) 12:34, 14 August 2023 (UTC)

Support. It would be nice to add the image from page 44 of Movers & Shakers. Unforunately, I only have a bad quality copy of it and not the digital one. Dcasawang1wall 15:00, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
This article was promoted.

Cranefish Town[]

Not so long ago, the Cranefish Town article was one of the less-well crafted articles on the Wiki. However, thanks to the effort of several editors over the course of a few months, it has become one of the most up-to-date and well-written settlement articles. Having made a few last touch-ups, I would argue that it has become good enough to qualify for A-class status. DyingFlameTsui (wallcontribs) 21:10, 23 May 2023 (UTC)

War of Chin the Conqueror[]

I would argue that this article has also reached A-class status. Considering that we curretly don't have many sources on the conflict, it covers everything known, and it is reasonably well illustrated as well as written. DyingFlameTsui (wallcontribs) 21:43, 5 March 2023 (UTC)

Bending Supremacist Uprising[]

The articles is well-written and well-illustrated, and covers everything currently known about the movement/conflict. I would argue that it meets the requirements for an A-class article. DyingFlameTsui (wallcontribs) 14:35, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

Asami Sato[]

To my surprise, I recently discovered that this article has not yet been rated. After going through it, I would argue that it is on A-class niveau, as it is well written, comprehensive, updated, has lots of good images (including from the comics), and has sub-articles for its history section. DyingFlameTsui (wallcontribs) 13:57, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

Support Support — I'm also surprised to see this hasn't been considered before for A-class. The article is just as complete and well written as the other LoK main characters'. Dcasawang1wall 18:49, 4 October 2022 (UTC)

B-class articles[]

Article nominations[]

Gender and sexuality in the World of Avatar[]

I think that this article meets the standards of B class. It encompasses most of the information we currently have on the subject, is well written, and reasonably illustrated. The one outstanding issue is the fact that some content from the novels and TTRPG could still be added (which would be neccessary for A-class). DyingFlameTsui (wallcontribs) 15:04, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

Support Support — Definitely. I would almost nominate the article for A-class, but I can still see there is room for improvement. Dcasawang1wall 18:49, 4 October 2022 (UTC)
