This is the page where formal requests for chat moderator rights on the Avatar Wiki Discord can be filed. Chat moderator rights enable normal users to kick or ban other users on the wiki's discord and to delete inappropriate comments. It is particularly useful on Avatar Wiki when an admin is unavailable to take action against comments or discussions that contravene the site's discussion policy. There is no maximum number of chat moderators, so if you believe you deserve chat moderator rights, please do not hesitate to make a request.

Requirements[]

  • Regular activity on the discord
  • History of moderation on the discord, whether that be reporting users for whom action is required, or attempting to moderate disagreements between other users
  • No history of serious blocks due to vandalism, sockpuppetry, or posting inappropriate comments

Procedures[]

  • Add your request under the section "Current requests" and give an explanation as to why you believe you deserve and require chat moderator rights. You must use the sample format that is shown at the top of the edit window when editing the section "Current requests".
  • Alternatively, another user may also nominate another eligible user for chat moderator rights. If this is the case, the applicant only needs to say that they accept the nomination. It is not necessary to elaborate any further, as administrators will check user contributions regardless of what is written.
  • Note that being nominated by another user bears no advantage over normal requests you make yourself.
  • Any comments on the request from others may be posted as per any standard talk page discussion.
  • One of the active administrators will consider your request. Don't be too disappointed if your request is declined. Remember, you can always try again later.

I am here applying for chat moderator for the Discord. I'm very active on the discord and I have had a lot of Discord moderation experience over the years. I understand the role that I'm applying for here and the duties and responsibilities involved and I think I'm up for the task. Thank you! Zacatero • (Wall) • 15  20  15 22:58, July 8, 2020 (UTC)

No check Not done While there is no mistaking your activity on Discord and enthusiasm to help out on this community, that enthusiasm may also sometimes get to better of you when a more calm and eloquent approach is preferred and results in a better outcome. Though as with all roles here, you do not have to have any specific rights in order to uphold policy and guide people if they've deviated. Hello, I'm applying for a chat mod position on discord. I'm pretty active and have a history of mediating heated confrontations within the server. In addition I have a history of contacting moderators when there's been issues on the server, but recently there came an issue where many mods or admins were asleep, since we have a largely European mod/administration team. In such cases I feel it might be useful to have an additional mod online. Therefore I'm proposing I become a mod so that I may deal with such cases. Thanks for considering me. Yes check Done You have shown the right attitude in your actions with other users and in mediating disagreements. I am happy to give you these rights. HAMMEROFTHØR (wall) • 08:58, August 13, 2020 (UTC)

Hi there, I know I'm not active as an editor here on the wiki, but I do follow the activity feed and keep up to date with announcements and such. I've been around for a while (years), and I would say I have a pretty good relationship with most of the mods on discord (not that we're close or anything XD). I was a member on the discord for a long time, but had to leave in March due to personal life reasons. I'm back now.

Anyway, I've noticed a recent upsurge in activity since the show re-aired on Netflix. There's a lot of new users and younger users flooding in, which is great. The size of the discord server has grown, immensely, and there are "patches" where mods aren't available or where basic regulation things tend to go unseen. Not faulting anyone for it: it's a heavy workload. I have nearly a year moderating a discord server as its owner, and I've been a moderator on another server for almost four years. I know the discord platform well, and I know how to use discord's standard features as well as bots to better regulate the chat and keep security tight(er), which I believe is important, especially for the new users. I am active on discord and can maintain a level of professional interaction with fellow users, even when discussions get heated. (At this rate, I've seen quite a few heated Avatar discussions, so I guess you could say I'm jaded/immune to them. They tend to center on the same subjects and are easy to spot XD).

Finally, the main reason I want to become a mod is to help the other mod team members to learn the discord format, wherever needed, so that the team as a whole can regulate the discord in a way that doesn't burden any one member of the staff. I've tried to direct new users to the proper channels when necessary, and I've made several suggestions in the past for server improvement. As a mod, I would continue with these activities in a way that benefits the staff team and the server as a whole. Sorry for the lengthy post, and thanks for your consideration."There goes Tokyo, yet again." —SCB (The chatty-chat section.) 17:05, August 22, 2020 (UTC)

No check Not done While you have certainly been active on the discord, and there are occasions that the mods are not around, you haven't shown a history of moderating during those times by contacting other mods or admins for issues that crop up. Your own activity appears to be in spurts, too, and you are not online consistently, nor are you across a majority of the channels (though the channels you are in seem to be the ones where issues do crop up, which is good). I would suggest taking a little while to begin moderating by reporting (contacting the mods and admins) people and conversations that are not following the discussion policies. After you've had some practise doing that, reapply for mod rights :) Frui (🌹🐝🐝🐝) 22:31, August 22, 2020 (UTC)

Blais W[]

Hey there, so at first I was undecided to request this, but an idea came to mind "why not letting them decide" hehe. Well, after this strange introduction: I Blais, would like to apply for chat moderator rigths.

I am active (in the discord), but well now I'm super active since it's summer time, but I will try to stay this active always, or to a similar degree. I belive, that I have moderated quite a few discussions, and as well tagged a moderator when needed. And well, I would like to be someone that help as well (tho I am aware that having this rigths just makes it easier to help, not that I was useless xD).

A few things I would like to say as well. In discord I'm more myself, a bit more playful (dumb). But when needed I can always be serious (like I am on the discussion boards). Also, I know there are already quite a few moderators, doing the things I already mentioned. So, one of my goals would be to try to engage a conversation with the newcomers that I catch, since well, there are a few users that leave without having any interaction ever. Thanks for reading BlåiS ❄️ 21:49, September 4, 2020 (UTC)

Yes check Done You have for sure shown the right attitude in your interactions and desire to help other users on the Discord, and I am happy to give you these rights. One thing I will note is that you should have the confidence to make decisions and take action on your own; getting a second opinion is good if you are doubtful, but we give you these rights because we trust your judgement and so it should not be necessary to do so in every situation. I would like to request moderator rights on the Discord. I am consistently active every day, I understand the policies and procedures of the wiki and the discord, and I understand what the role is meant for. It definitely took me a while to come around to the way of thinking that the Avatar Wiki expects, but I definitely understand how I was misunderstanding a lot of things in the past, and to not expect everything to be at a higher level of severity than it really is. Thank you! Zacatero • (Wall) • 15  20  15 19:10, October 4, 2020 (UTC)

Yes check Done You have shown yourself to be very active on the discord, and capable of moderating even without the mod tools in your approach and attitude towards other users; however, we (the admins) do want to note that your attitude can be a little too gung-ho and you seem eager to lay down the law. While this is not a bad thing, it does mean that the 'assume good faith' approach is not always the first thing done; however, you have been shown to be trying to improve and learn. Remember as well that being part of a moderating team, discussion with other mods is always important. These are all things that you have shown to be working and improving upon, and the ability to practise more will only help you. It will also help us by having another set of eyes and another perspective. Frui (🌹🐝🐝🐝) 08:45, October 5, 2020 (UTC)

I am applying for chat moderator on Discord. I'm very active and have experience with moderating servers on Discord. I understand the rules and the duties of being a chat moderator and I feel like I'm up for the task! —Preceding unsigned comment added by ChojuuKen2099 (wall • contribs) 18:37, March 23, 2020 (UTC)

No check Not done Looking at your contributions on the server, your activity has only picked up recently and I also don't see particular instances of helping to moderate discussions. Having prior experience is definitely great, but more so is your history and experience on the server itself. I would suggest continuing to be active on the server and help to moderate, and then consider reapplying in the future. HAMMEROFTHØR (wall) • 21:59, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

I'm not on discord, but I feel I'm perfect for this job! I'm constantly active every day, I always make it my mission to give people a positive day. I love editing and correcting mistakes, when I'm not on the wiki, it's pretty much all I do! If I become a moderator, I'll be sure to make sure all my fellow wikians are feeling comfortable on this wiki. I understand all the policies that you have put up for this job, I will never disobey them. I've done some things that I'm not proud of, but I have also accomplished great things, and I think this is a great opportunity for me to learn what my place is on this wiki. And right know, I feel like this place is the best for me. I hope you have considered letting me join, I won't let you down! Drink Cactus Juice! 20:27, 4 June 2024 (UTC)

No check Not done While I appreciate your enthusiasm, we require our thread moderators to have a history of posts that fall within our guidelines and spark conversation and engagement. At this moment, I don't really see such type of content in your contributions, but we absolutely welcome the intention of making sure everyone feels comfortable around here. You don't need additional right to accomplish that though. I'd suggest to continue more actively on acting on that intention and just in general being part of the community ( as everyone constructive will always have a place here, regardless of whether or not they have any additional rights) and then perhaps re-apply again in the future.
