— Official description of the podcast.[1]

Avatar: Braving the Elements is an online podcast hosted by Janet Varney and Dante Basco, the voice actors of Korra and Zuko, respectively, that premiered on June 22, 2021. The podcast features Varney and Basco as they rewatch every episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender, breaking down key moments, fights, and other points of interest from each episode. The podcast also features numerous guest appearances from other cast members and staff involved in the show, including series co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino. Once their rewatch of the first series is completed, the hosts also plan to recap every episode of The Legend of Korra.[2]

On March 24, 2022, Janet Varney announced that a second season with them rewatching Book Two: Earth would be released,[3] which began airing on May 3, 2022. On October 14, 2023, it was announced during New York Comic Con that the podcast would release a third season to cover Book Three: Fire,[4] which premiered on January 16, 2024. Unlike prior seasons, which were disseminated almost entirely on audio-only platforms, this was the first to regularly feature episodes in video format on YouTube. The third season also marked the debut of a premium subscription service on Apple Podcasts, offering paying subscribers early ad-free access to episodes and exclusive bonus content alongside new episodes.[5][6]
