</p><p>IMHO, Nick didn't want Book 1 to end on a sour note/cliffhanger, because it was only supposed to be one season. Who knows, maybe it was the original ending all along, but they changed it when the got another season, then Nick didn't like the depressing ending so they changed it back. That sounds crazy though... :P
