I'm sure <i>Mako</i> isn't supposed to be "emotionally inconstant," but that's certainly how he <i>acted</i> in Book 1 (and, to a lesser degree, Book 2).
<p>That said: Bolin and Opal have actual chemistry, don't bring out the worst in each other, and seem to actually give a damn about each other. That's actually more than can be said of <i>any other</i> canon (or formerly canon) pairing involving any of the central four.

</div>Half-way in Old Wounds Bolin says "talking about our feeling, supporting eachother" and gets the response "its nice". Im expecting something like that to occur within Book 4, where they discuss with eachother where one went wrong. Likely Bolin seeking forgiveness after realizing Kuvira is seeking domination and turns against her.

I doubt Kuvira will let Bolin go that easily. She'll most likely sent some tanks after him for his disloyalty and probably go after Opal for being a "bad influence" to him.
