Well, since I'm here, I might as well add to this discussion. Aang is not weak at all, he's the Avatar and mastered all 4 elements. He has been through traumatic experiences, like when he found out that the Air Nomads got wiped out from the Fire Nation and getting critically injured by Azula. I would say that anime characters are really OP too, but I would leave that to you, because it's your opinion that Aang is weak and that anime characters are OP.
