If you read the comics, they do have a romance, BUT you do really have a good point. I agree with you and @Ijimenez19 Asami is bland and the relationship is undeveloped. But I am glad they used the two as LGBTQ icons in cartoons!

I am a little biased because I watched ATLA as a kid, but for cartoon standards it is really good in my opinion, possibly one of the best. But I don't think it's the greatest of all time.
