Light blue eyes? That could be confused with regular or gray depending on the lighting.
More than likely "modern day" clothes in the World of Avatar would still have the themes of each Nation. I would hope we wouldn't start seeing T-shirts and Blue Jeans (as an example). Avatar would lose a huge part of its identity. Maybe their clothes could have electric themes to them like Water Tribe (somewhat) have with Water?
It would be strange for Firebenders to just "lose" the ability to generate Lightning. Many jobs rely on that ability among other aspects for the Fire Nation.
If that would be the case; couldn't any fan claim that "true" Plantbenders exist; (calling themselves "Woodbenders" or "Naturebenders") and Waterbenders just lose their power over Plants?
The first picture is a bit rough but it seems fine. The second reminds me of The Flash's (DC Comics) Symbol.
Here are a few questions; What is their eye color? What style of clothes do they wear (Greek, Nordic or Celtic)? What is their most common hair color? What is their naming system like? (Mostly Greek or a balance of all 3?)
Maybe their Lightning should be yellow? (To look different from Firebenders.)
Video recordings too? The World of Avatar just (not long ago) created "Movers" (Moving Pictures). How would those last 5000 years? I don't think devices today would still work after 1000 years let alone 5000. Wouldn't most of those videos be destroyed anyway? Where would they store those videos? What would the quality be?
"Christ-bearer"? Would seem a little off to add to Avatar wouldn't it? There isn't anything like that in Avatar. Maybe a more traditional Greek or Nordic sounding name?
How do you get Greek, Nordic and Celtic for one Nation? (Excuse my ignorance) Aren't they very different? I'll admit (I think) the Water Tribe is based on Inuit and Native American but, I could be wrong.
After meeting the Avatar; how do the Lightning people prove the wrong doings of the other 3 Nations?
Chris? Seems a little to modern sounding of a name for the World of Avatar. Aren't the Lightningbenders Greek inspired?
Well, this is your idea. I'm not saying you have to give names; but, what are we talking about here? What are your thoughts? What would you want?
Would the Lightningbenders reawaken during Korra's Era or long after?
Who would the Avatar talk to about Lightningbenders? Who would teach the Avatar Lightning? Would this character join Team Avatar?
Sun Warriors seem to be Mayan/Aztec and Foggy Swamp Tribe seems to be the American South.
So, who would be the Lightning representative? Male or Female? Old or young? I'm guessing this character would be a Lightningbender.
While I do think that Korra (or a future Avatar) could get the connections back; we aren't sure how. Unless it's the Avatar after Korra or the one after that; Lightning isn't going to be reborn anytime soon. So, how would you have Korra (if her) regain the connections? How long could it take?
It's less to deal with how often the Element is used; but in what way it is used. Like Azula uses Blue Fire to help her stand out.
If Lightning being a Primary Element means new techniques; then it already becomes something unique than the 2 move style it used to be.
@LogicMeister I just realized something. Korra (and the Avatar after her) couldn't get possessed by a Lightning Avatar of the past; she lost the connection to the past Avatars.
How would the Stasis pods stay powered for 5000 years? How many would even survive? What prevents treasure hunters from finding any Lightning relics before Aang or Korras Era?
@Cyber Cyclone Unfortunately, Darkness isn't official yet.
(I'll admit; I forgot how long she had before Harmonic Convergence)
Yet, It still wouldn't make sense to hide the information. Korra would see it yes; it might distract her a little. However, even if she wanted to learn it; the time table would prevent that and she would have to learn it before tracking down Zaheer (or at least after dealing with Vaatu). It is important regardless if she is able to search for it or not. Raava could also tell Korra after she gets fully healed from being poisoned.
That is (of course) under the assumption an Avatar before Korra would learn about Lightning before her. How many opportunities would these Avatars have to learn about Lightning? Couldn't Aang have visions after he was struck by Lightning from Azula? Feeling Lightning course through him could trigger past Avatars.
Then, Aang was taught Lightning Redirection by Zuko. Wouldn't a past Avatar be very angry with this lesson? It's a lesser (or incorrect) version of Lightningbending yes?
Hmmm..... I'd say "Lightning Republic" but Earth now has that. I guess Earth Republic no longer uses "Empire" but that now has a negative view. Hmmm...
When do they start turning towards a democracy?
That's just an advanced form of Bloodbending.
What always bothered me about Metalbending is it was said to be "impossible" but when Toph reveals she can Metalbend; no one is truly shocked by it. Toph should be showing off her Metalbending to master Earthbenders toting how she is the World's best Earthbender and their jaws should hit the floor!
I've never heard of Ancient Greece having "working vending machines". Where did you learn that?
I could believe that Lightningbender could be the most advanced; but by that much? Not really. How do they even accomplish stasis level technology?
The point in bringing up the Statues is that if the Avatar learned about Lightningbenders (even before Aang or Korra) they'd make it their mission to rediscover Lightning. If they failed; they'd pass on that charge to the next Avatar. Then the next and the next.
Learning that Wan either learned Lightning or an Avatar after him learned Lightning would not be a distraction. Mainly if Wan didn't learn Lightning it would be key in helping Korra defeat Vaatu (as Wan only used 4 Elements to seal Vaatu away). Even if not; Lightning would have helped defeat Zaheer or Kuvira.
So, did a Lion Turtle grant humanity Lightning?
Like I said; "Lightning Civilization" is a bit long. Too many syllables. I'll think about what else they could be called.
Actually, did the Lightning have a Monarchy? Or a Democratic government? Parliament? Ruling Houses?
Honestly, I wouldn't mind if other Nations were added (as long as they make sense). Technically, there are other "Nations" like the Sun Warriors and Foggy Swamp Tribe (that is if you count them as Nations).
If we don't count them; then four is a pretty small number. Leaving us not much to work with. If Earth and Fire get their own series; we'd be right back to Air. Not that would be a bad thing; just it'd feel like there could be more.
I've been having a discussion with LogicMeister and Logic was talking about a "Pre-existing" Nation. Just one that was "lost". I'll let LogicMeister explain should the need arise.
He means in the future. He has this idea that Lightning hasn't been truly realized. That Lightning being used by Firebenders isn't "True Lightningbending". That Lightning being a "Sub Element" is only due to Lightning not being fully utilized (or something to that degree).
