<p>That too. </p><p>Vaatu had to wait for Harmonic Convergence so he could be free, but he also had to find someone to fuse with in order to fight evenly with the Avatar. </p><p>Does that help? </p>

<p>I think Neo Bahamut has a point .It really did seem like all she tried to do before Vaatu fused was use the same method Wan used. Because....well, why not? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. </p><p>And I don't think that Vaatu wasn't creative enough to escape early before the Harmonic Convergence. I think he realized that after Wan beat him, it wasn't just him vs. Raava anymore. It was him vs. Raava and the Avatar. He knew he had to even the playing field, so he waited for someone bad enough to come around so they could fuse like Raava and Wan. </p>

Honestly Zuko's daughter showing up get my vote first. </p><p>Remember, I'm talking MAIN characters. Heck I'll even expand into support characters. At least for earth we get 2 chicks. </p>

<p>But not with no important or relevant characters. This soldier talk is all true, but that's just it. Of course it is implied that there are benders of both genders. Just like it is implied that all characters go to the bathroom. I'm sure there were female firebending soldiers, but they were just cannon fodder really. Faceless and forgetful entities. Stormtroopers, Putty Patrollers, Heartless, Zubats. All of them are just considered to be carbon copies to fill the role of an opposing force. Fine, the presence of woman firebenders is there seeing as how they are reproducing. But what I'm saying is that if I'm putting together a bending team and all the dope firebending bros are all chosen, I don't wanna have to recruit Azula (wherever the hell she is) just so my team can have some heat. </p>

<p>Ok I'll give you Yangchen, but come on it's called the LAST Airbender. Pickings are gonna be pretty slim, so on that point cut me some slack. And I'll give you Yugoda, I didn't feel like mentioning notable waterbenders since Korra Book 2 was pretty much all waterbending. But Misu and Kori were characters that at least moved the plot along, minor as they were. Oma founded Omashu, so even if it was just a history lesson, she's still important. </p><p>Penga, yea, metalbending spoiled brat. </p><p>@Cat Girl Blizzard: Come on, you saw "The Firebending Masters". Fire isn't about destruction. It can be used for it (quite spectaularly) but so can all the other elements. If the true nature of firebending has been revealed and established, then why not have a female character use it not only as a fighting style but some other more-passive-but-not-too-passive form? </p>

And even if you are right, what I mean is that we really don’t have a prominent, notable, firebending female besides Azula. Every other element you can name 3-5 female benders :</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Air:Yangchen Jinora, ikki</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Water: Hama, Kya. Misu, Yugoda, Eska</p> <p class="MsoNormal">Earth: Oma, Penga, Kori</p>

Female firebenders

<p>In reading a blog about Korrasami shipping, a thought came to me. </p><p>After a bit of research into the people of the 4 nations and Republic city, it occured to me that while each element had benders of both genders fire was the only where not many female benders had been introduced and/or established. The only ones I could find were Azula (of course), the Fire Nation councilwoman, and the shaman Korra met who helped her regain her memories. And out of the these 3, only Azula and the shaman have even been seen firebending within the show. The councilwoman only displayed her bending within the Welcome to Republic City game on Nick.com. </p><p>And before anyone says anything, I did remember the Sun Warriors and that their civilization had female firebenders. However, only the chief and that scrawny looking tribe member Ham Ghao had anything to say. The women were literally moved to the background. Sure they held up rings of fire for the judgement ceremony, but other than that they served little purpose. </p><p>The main point I am trying to get across is that while LoK Book 3 will delve deeper into earthbending and Lin Bei Fong, the series needs to introduce or portray a female firebender with no mental instability like Azula and can provide more to the plot of the story. Because it seems like the only way a female firebender can get any recognition is to be either crazy, too old to fight, or part of a secret society. Let a scenario occur where for one reason or another, Korra energybends Asami into a firebender. Give the that firebending shaman a more in depth role, or at the very least more screen time. How about a firebending child with a wiley personality? Or even have Zuko's Fire Lord daughter throw a fireball or two on screen. </p><p>Korra has shown that she can literally do anything her male counterparts can do and look cooler doing it (seriously, Avatar State Korra is 10x doper than Avatar State Aang) along with Toph, Katara, and Lin. Just think how awesome it would be/look to have a female predominately use firebending in LoK. Thoughts? </p>
