yeah, but still.. while you may have characters struggling with identity, self worth, and their sense of conscience in LOK it's not nearly the same as in ATLA.. And while Azula and Ozai were obvious 'bad guys', Zuko, Mai, Tai Lee, heck even many much smaller side characters were faced with 'right and wrong' situations (like that one fire sage early on in Book 1 of ATLA) - I'm not saying LOK doesn't do this, it's just on a much smaller scale and usually just barely skimmed over, which i thought was a shame since it's super interesting when you get to see why people are on the side they're on.

Asking for in-depth analysis on ATLA or LOK

Hi guys, I'm really looking for some in-depth analysis on any topic within the Avatar universe and am hoping some of you could recommend a video commentary, article, post, or anything that could help? I'm looking for something that goes into a lot of detail and description rather than just skimming the topic.. Thanks

While I basically agree with Neo's opinion in the Mutants vs Benders debate I'll go back to the original question and say that book one is slow and a little boring because it's setting the scene, portraying the world and introducing the characters -- it's not rare at all for many tv shows to fall in this mistake where the first couple of episodes seem a little dry.

It could be that the guns were never necessary.. It's obvious through history that people created weapons: bombs, guns, cannons, for the reason that they needed more power to overtake their target - if people had bending they would already be powerful enough to erect giant walls, destroy entire villages, drown endless homes and devastate entire towns with fire, so why would they need to create guns? I'd say the only chance of weapons of mass desruction being created may improve is if there is need for HUGE CHANGE or if the nonbenders revolted - though even then it seems that their efforts would be quashed before their plans saw the light of day. It would be interesting to see an arc of some kind of underground 'weapons creation ring' by nonbenders to get strong enough to rival benders though - kind of like Amon's move in removing people's bending except instead of weakening benders, they're empowering nonbenders.

I don't know, seems a bit too much like a history lesson. Of course, if the books are written well and designed well I would for sure skim them at least for any intersting parts.

I agree with you for sure but there are studied cases that show that blind people's brains are rewired in such a way that they have heightened senses - it's not just that they learn to use them better it's that they actually ARE better.. though Kuvira is not really blind so unless she trained blindfolded for a seriously long time (which we cannot assume to be true) this theory falls flat. And even if she did, this doesn't necessarily mean that she would be able to have sensory stimuli perception powerful enough to sense the air (this could be a myth as you said). So I guess I'll put my money in saying she was experienced enough in predicting Korra's moves before she bended the air and dodged from there.

this would be a super interesting thing to see, though if we look at other metal concentrations in the human bone, I think there's more copper and lead than calcium. Anyway, considering the fact that the bone would have to have earth in it it may seem really difficult to bend - even if the earthbender was really powerful. So the question is how much earth would need to be in the bone for an earthneder to be abe to bend it?

I agree with you that Kuvira could've simply dodged because she saw Korra's attack coming, especially since she's got a lot of martial arts experience.
But I also think she could've just 'sensed the air' since she seems like she's had enough training to be able to heighten her senses - similar to martial artists that could fight blind because of their abilities to use the remaining of their senses to the max. Oh, and btw, I love your username xD
