I think the difference is that Aang leaping to the air is temporal and realistically speaking Toph should be able to hear the air currents, making it easier for her to hit him. Zaheer can fly as easily as he breaths and it doesn’t makes sounds. If Toph realizes that he is in the air she would probably go defense mode and honestly Zaheer probably couldn’t get trough her defense if she does an earth dome. But I don’t think Toph could hit him either for the reasons I mentioned and because Zaheer can just go more up if she does a rock explosion.

I think it’s more paired than I originally taught but I still would give it to Zaheer

Well It doesn't have to be a genious to know bloodbending can kill someone without plot convenience, they literally control the human body and can do whatever they want with it, in Kyoshi books she freeze a guy internal organs and killing him, bloodbending is the most powerfull sub-bending type and can kill obviously

I think you forget, avatar is a kids show of they are not going to show that kind of killing, bloodbending can kill somebody in seconds snaping their neck
