<p>If they recognized Momo for a lemur the others seen probably looked a lot like him.  Also, I kind of doubt the avatar-verse <i>has</i> any other types of lemur-like creatures other than Momo's ring-tailed cousins. </p>

<p>It may take more than one generation for that to happen, given the rather small number of current air benders. But in 100 years or so, I could see some lunatic trying it. </p>

<p>All I could think when I saw Jinora with the new tattoos for the first time was "if her eyes were gray rather than brown, she would look just like Aang." I hope she grows her hair back but given the time scale involved she may look like she has a 'pixie style' cut by season 4. No matter what, it's going to be a bit short for a while. </p>

But even if it wasn't, Korra's personal lack of a strong spiritual connection will have to be dealt with. She has made a start, but compared to Aang, she has a <i>looong</i> way to go. </p>

<p>But he is still the only true airbending master. That kind makes him outrank the nonbending cultural adoptees. I got the impression that the abbots, or what ever they're called, were more of head acolyte/caretaker. </p><p>p.s. I thought the reaction of that air acolyte/new airbender was priceless. becoming an airbender has to be the ultimate win for an air acolyte. </p>

My personal theory is that Raava isn't talking much because she is either fixing Korra's past avatar connection or waiting for Korra to prove worthy of the new admin password as it were.

<p>Point, the longer ago it happened the easier it becomes for people to not know about such an ancestry. I still doubt there will be <i>many</i> in the FN if only because of Sozin's fire-nation-is-a-superior-breed nonsense. </p>

<p>We are assuming the gene is now dominant. While I agree that is likely the case, we won't <i>know</i> for certain until the next generation of benders is born. </p>

<p>I'd be interested in seeing the lead up from an adult perspective. Right now all we have is the Roku- Sozin angle and the painful, but nostalgic, memories of a 12 year old. (As a, relatively, sheltered child Aang kind of gave the impression the attack came out of nowhere.) </p>

Also true. I doubt any running air nomads would have settled in the Fire Nation. We might find some in the Water Tribes though.

<p>Will the kids of the current "spontaneous" air benders (the ones from the EK) be air benders? If they are they will likely grow up mostly air nomad, similar to Tenzin's kids, if they are not the nation will have just gotten some new acolytes. If the former, then we have the air nomads reborn. If the latter then we have an expanded version of the current situation (few benders and lots of non bender cultural adoptees) Either way we kind of need to wait a generation to find out. </p>

I think the part about how kids are raised will likely be different but other than that not much.

The nomad part of the Air Nomads seemed to refer more to the fact that they used one particular temple as a base and traveled a lot. The way Tenzin is moving around as needed but based out of air temple island seems to fit with that tradition just fine.

That actually makes sense. The people who became airbenders in LOK had trace air nomad ancestry and didn't know about it.

<p>True on the Earth Queen, AntJenkins. I do think the Fire Lord being a firebender is more than just all members of the royal family are firebenders, though. I think the office of Fire Lord was originally like the High Fire Sage and eventually split. So, there may be some qualifications in addition to being part of the Royal Family by blood. </p>

<p>Well then what about everyone else? I'm pretty sure at lease one of these groups you are proposing must have been know by someone else like Guru Pathik. It is true that groups like the Sun Warriors and Foggy Swamp Tribe were found by Aang and company yet before this no one knew about them in the case of the Tribe and almost no one in the case of the Warriors, however what about the sandbenders? They have a different culture and bending style to most earthbenders yet they are known to the general public that is what I'm talking about. </p> </div> <p>Remember there was also a 100 time gap. Guru Pathik was <i>really old</i> when Aang met him, and he would have been a young adult prior to the war. Most humans don't live that long so the number of people to ask about it would have been small. Also the Fire Nation actively tried to wipe the Air Nomads out, and they weren't to concerned with collateral damage during the comet, so a lot records and artifacts were probably destroyed. </p>

On the other hand their reaction sort of indicate they could see <i>something.</i> After all, Katara did seem to see it when Aang showed her tricks like the air scooter. </p>

Aang's arrow was still partly visible even with hair. Thus the headband worn while sneaking through the fire nation. So it may end up being optional since the whole purpose of the shaved head ''seemed'' to be about making the arrow more clearly seen
