Ruins of the Empire

<p>I'm gonna be up front, I actually really like Ruins of the Empire mainly because the dynamic between Korra, Asami and Kuvira was really engaging and the arc really helped to flesh out Kuvira's character that helped change her from an overall solid antagonist to a really great character. </p><p>My only issue with Ruins is that I really have to ask, why are Mako and Bolin still here? They weren't <i>Bad</i> by any means but they weren't that interesting, especially when compared to our lead ladies. </p><p>Mako's barely a presences in the story and the same goes for Bolin. You could have removed them from the story completely and nothing would change, if anything the story would have likely been improved by their absence since the biggest issue many fans have is that the story felt rushed. And a big part of why it felt rushed is that we spend more time then we need to on two characters who really don't need to be there. </p><p>This has been a problem with the series post, if I'm to be honest, A Leaf on the Wind. Mako and Bolin are perfectly fine characters, as one shots. Neither of them are really that complex or deep enough to continue past their first episode. </p><p>Take Haru from The Last Airbender. He's a really likeable character who makes a few appearances post The Imprisoned but he really isn't complex enough to do much after his first appearance. This becomes even more obvious when he DOES team with Aang and the rest for a little while in Fire and barely even speaks. </p><p>Asami is a great character who adds to Korra's character and also adds to the plot of pretty much every story she's been in, be it the TV series or the comics. Kuvira is a character who can add a LOT to the series due to her truly engaging relationship with Korra and Asami and her own impact on the world. </p><p>Ruins really highlighted just how uninteresting Mako and Bolin are as they are often treated as a second thought throughout the story and their relationship with Kuvira is hardly ever mentioned past the first issue. Assuming it gets mentioned at all. </p><p>Kuvira almost got Mako killed and Bolin worked for Kuvira for 3 years and was betrayed by her and both of them have almost no lines with her. Contrast this with Asami who next to Korra has the most amount of dialogue with. In the scenes where the two are not together Asami makes it clear that she REALLY hates Kuvira for the death of her father and can't even bring herself to be in the same room with her at first. And when the two are in the same room Asami spends most of her time glaring at Kuvira and makes it clear that she is doesn't trust her. </p><p>It's very telling that when the Krew was about to be brainwashed that the person Kuvira apologizes to for failing to help isn't Bolin, her former subordinate, it's Asami, the daughter of the man she killed. </p><p>So, why are Mako and Bolin still here if the writers are clearly no longer interested in them. They're <i>Clearly</i> interested in exploring Korra, Asami and Kuvira and truth be told I could watch an entire series based around these 3 but Mako and Bolin? Personally I think it's really time for the two to just exit the series. They can appear here and there as guest stars but they really don't have what it takes to be ongoing lead characters, IMHO. </p>

<p>She was 8 when she was found by Suyin, and she looks to be in her early 20s, got any ideas? </p>

Does Rohan airbends?

<p>So I had an idea what if Rohan grows up to be a complete Air Nomad rebel? He refuses to get his head shaved, he Dosent wanna be a vegetarian and he utilizes airbending in a violent way, not the peaceful way like air nomads do. It would be an excellent storyline if they were to show like a vision into the future in an episode. He would cause his parents a LOT of trouble and dissapointment. </p>
