Happy Saturday everybody. I have decided to extend my ship posts by one by going with a ship that I've been waning in but regained interest in. This ship is Lekoshi. Please note that Rangshi is still my preferred pairing for Kyoshi.
Lekoshi is the ship between Lek and Kyoshi. I've also seen other fans call it Lekshi.
Kyoshi first met Lek when she first sought out the Flying Opera Company while on the run from Jianzhu. They did not get along at first because Kyoshi despised her parents who eventually took Lek in and was a little jealous that they abandoned her but were willing to take care of him. However, he still vouched for her when Mok considered her to not be strong enough and had his hand cut for his insolence. When Kyoshi revealed her status as the Avatar, he had a hard time believing her until she successfully waterbended in front of them. Lek then agreed to become one of her earthbending teachers along with Wong.
Lek's respect for Kyoshi grew over time. This was especially the case when she defeated Xu Ping An in a le tai. Lek saw him strike Kyoshi multiple times with his lightning and assumed she was dead before she entered the Avatar State and killed him. Kyoshi then passed out for three days and Lek went to greet her after she woke up. He finally opened up about his past to her and about how her parents took him. Lek speculated that perhaps they did not want to expose Kyoshi to their dangerous life of crime and were willing to take Lek in because he was more expendable to them. Unfortunately, their peace did not last too long because Jianzhu knocked them and Rangi out with Shirshu-spit darts before taking the latter. Lek had an allergic reaction to the poison and by the time that Kyoshi was able to move, Lek was already dead. Kyoshi cried and brought Lek's body to the other members of the Flying Opera Company so that they could bury him.
Lekoshi is a ship that I randomly thought of before I even started reading the books, just based on the summaries that I read on Avatar Wiki. Rangshi was still my preferred pairing but I liked their development from what I read. When I actually read the novels, my support slightly waned because I saw more of how they did not get along well. It was actually after doing my Lekrima post from yesterday that I realized I still kind of like it. As I prefer Rangshi, this would obviously be in an AU where they are not together and Lek is not killed. I'm still salty about the latter.
I welcome all opinions on Lekoshi as well as other pairings involving Lek and Kyoshi but please do keep comments constructive.
