Outer space is an interesting environment that has been mentioned a few times in Avatar, though would it be a good place to watch a fight, perhaps in a future installment of in the series?

Having no gravity or air, outer space offers some challenges for fighters. Not to mention, there is no sound in space either, plus it is very cold there. Overall, a fight in space can look very different to a fight on Earth and/or another planet.

Space is a very harsh environment and usually only those with special traits or a space suit can survive in it. Could the Avatar or any other character survive in the vacuum of space or would it make more sense for them to wear space suits? Perhaps spirits could survive in space and it has been theorized that some do live there.

Other forms of media have shown fights in outer space (Invincible, Marvel, etc.) so would this be something fans would like to see in Avatar? Not saying a fight like this should take place in deep space and could still happen close to Earth, merely far enough from the planet, maybe somewhere in between Earth and the Moon.

I'd love to see benders fighting in zero gravity it'll be tight!

If such a fight were to take place, it would most likely be a duel of astral projections or something like that, but definitely not between living people.

Taking into account that in the vacuum of space there would be nothing to fight with, except perhaps the rock of some meteorite, you could not fight with the elemental arts. Since there was no air, they could not generate fire or water.

Fire wouldn't work from no oxygen, earth would be restricted to projectiles that don't stop, the water would only become vapor and there is no air to ben. physically its next to impossible to form a good cohesive fight in outer space

What about fights without bending? There are other forms of combat in Avatar besides bending such as with technology and spirits have their own unique abilities.

Hand to hand combat would be next to impossible in space given the no gravity and lack of a surface.

Then spirits barely fight. the only spirit we've really seen "fight" was vaatu and old iron. even if it was possible it wouldn't look or feel like avatar at that point, just another anime with entirely different rules.
