@Zealous Gamer Way back when this alchemist guy named Paracelsus wrote this book called A Book on Nymphs, Sylphs, Pygmies, and Salamanders, and on the Other Spirits. He explained that each element has an elemental being. Undines are supposed to be water nymphs. Funnily enough a story written about one later inspired The Little Mermaid. Sylphs are supposed to be kind of like ultra humans. They're taller and rougher. Though a lot of fantasy authors like making them fairies.
