@AdmiralZod1 Trying to kill your fiancee is one thing, but how about killing innocent people? Because to my knowledge, Hiroshi didn't do that. But, do you know who did? Kuvira: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d28RMZS1YLc
Do you know who had an army threatening civilians trying to escape in an attempt to capture her target? Kuvira: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyoiNykn8Nw
And how can I forget! Who was creating re-education camps and purging people from their homes? Kuvira: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epS-z1grU2o
Hiroshi trying to kill his daughter is deplorable. But, in comparison to Lady Hitler (that n*zi aesthetic was clearly what the creators were going for), that's nothing. While Hiroshi feels awful for what he did to Asami (and is why he starts trying to redeem himself), Kuvira doesn't feel bad about anything she did except hurting the Beifongs. Also, unlike Hiroshi, Kuvira blames her parents for her bad actions and takes no responsibility. Nothing in Ruins of the Empire ever shows that she has really really redeemed herself. Kuvira is by far the worst villain in the franchise in terms of villainy, and is the most irredeemable.
@AvatarPhoenixGrey2 You bring up plenty of good points and I respect your opinion. I still feel she is better for redemption than Hiroshi story wise but that is just my take on it and I am not trying to push it on anyone else. I like that they redeemed her in the comics and I understand if you don’t.
Each of use has to enjoy and interpret the series as by way of what makes us most comfortable individually. I appreciate you bringing up fair points and explaining your opinion.
I now see there is no chance to save you!
Hiroshi to Asami
@Isabella Alexander 1226 How is that quote relevant?
@AvatarPhoenixGrey2 well that is true he did say that to her like she was aiding the people that killed her mother and feel love for his wife anymore
@Isabella Alexander 1226 I know. I’ve seen the show. I’m asking how is it relevant to what has been said in this post
@AvatarPhoenixGrey2 I've tried to reason in the same way, but it will never make sense.
@Isabella Alexander 1226 the worst thing Hiroshi did was launch a full scale terrorist attack on republic city. yes he did try to kill his daughter but in a fit of extreme rage which he later regretted.
Kuvira not only went against the wishes of the entire world, basically making herself a dictator, she had unpaid labor, partook in ethnic cleansing, concentration camps (prisons), casually used what is the atla equivalent of nuclear weaponry without remorse but she actually destroyed the city. her attack literally killed people and altered the city. at the same time we have no evidence that the equalists actually took lives. kuvira also attacked zaofu and kidnapped its leader, making her a full usurper. she is a borderline war criminal, terrorist, dictator, fascist and more. all Hiroshi was was a terrorist at best.
The only thing kuvira regretted was taking lives and putting people in danger, but she doubled down on her actions in the earth kingdom, meaning she does not feel guilty but proud of everything she did including the bad things.
In the end he was redeemed too, so saying he will never be redeemed is false. after attempting to kill Asami once, he saved her life without hesitation, sacrificing his own. that alone redeemed him. he is the whole reason they defeated the mech, saving the city and the world at large, redeemed. even showing remorse for his actions and seeking to better himself for his daughter was him redeeming himself before the attack even started.
Please see sense.
I guess I just prefer Kuvira to have been redeemed since she started off with good intentions while Hiroshi didn’t, that is just me but I can see why you guys are so against her as I don’t think she is really a good person (she is complicated to me). Also, I think she is semi-redeemed as she is still under arrest for her crimes.
While I prefer Kuvira’s redemption, that doesn’t mean I don’t think she should be punished for her crimes and feel she should be imprisoned for, what you have correctly pointed out, war crimes, crimes against humanity and dictatorship
Hiroshi
