Why did they break these two up in the comics, I know it’s to create tension or whatever but seriously Zuko had literally been through hell and finally found some happiness, why did they have to take that away from him?

@ZealousJ because he was desperate for someone who understood what he was going through. When someone is desperate, they’ll do almost anything. Same here.
Zuko also went to Ozai because he was yearning for his acceptance after his recent accomplishments. In abusive relationships, children may seek the acceptance of their abusive parents after much trauma. This can lead to a cycle of abuse and manipulation.
