Why did they break these two up in the comics, I know it’s to create tension or whatever but seriously Zuko had literally been through hell and finally found some happiness, why did they have to take that away from him?

@ZealousJ why would he go to Mai? She was never the Fire lord
@AvatarPhoenixGrey2 Because Zuko never had a good relationship with him why would you look to someone who basically hated you most of your life for advice
@ZealousJ because he was desperate for someone who understood what he was going through. When someone is desperate, they’ll do almost anything. Same here.
@AvatarPhoenixGrey2 The burden of leadership is heavy on ones shoulders
I agree with @AvatarPhoenixGrey2
Yed
Yeah but he had already been through hell, I get what you’re saying but he deserved some happiness and just peace.
Zuko also went to Ozai because he was yearning for his acceptance after his recent accomplishments. In abusive relationships, children may seek the acceptance of their abusive parents after much trauma. This can lead to a cycle of abuse and manipulation.
I know the maiko breakup was heavy on most of our hearts, but at least we know that its cannon that they end up together in the end.
Most likely in the upcoming Adult Avatar, they'll try again.... thrice and third time's gonna be a charm.
What do you think?
