I'm on the side of kind of. To me, it feels like it cheapens what Aang did with the spirits. He had to figure out what was wrong and try to reason with them as best as he could. Meanwhile, with spiritbending, Korra or Unalaq can just wave their arms around and suddenly a potentially important spiritual problem is solved. On the other hand, I think it works in making Kuruk's story sadder, because he was forced into killing spirits because they couldn't be reasoned with, and there was no other solution like spiritbending (spiritbending was only created during the era of Roku). And on the third magical hand, I think it's also kind of confusing storywise, as it leads to many plot questions. Like, why was Korra able to spiritbend UnaVaatu? I thought you could only spiritbend when it was just their spirit. Or am I wrong about that, and you can spiritbend a spirit that is in the physical body. Anyway, I want to hear your opinions on this.
