Ok, I'm looking to host a Fanon Award Competition. Why? It's been quite some time to make one and the people who usually do it have been preoccupied.
If so, I want to make one for all the years it hasn't happened. Not 2023, not yet. I'm thinking whenever the last year the competition was. If anyone knows, please inform me.
If you are interested in assisting me in preparation, please let me know.
If you are interested in being a judge, please let me know. As of now, I only have one requirement for judges:
Do not be an active fanon writer who is participating in the competition
Note: Almost all the votes will be decided by users and majority decision. However, if a tie occurs twice (first in a general competition then in a finals), the super finals will be decided by a panel of three judges. The judges will go off these criteria:
Creativity/originality of story (rate on a scale of 1-5)
Quality of writing (scale of 1-5; this includes grammar/formatting/flow)
Worldbuilding (scale of 1-5)
Best story (scale of 1-5; this is more about how good the story and plot are)
Best art (scale of 1-5)
Judges will add up their scores and whoever gets the highest one will be endorsed by each judge. Whoever gets the most judge endorsements will win. If more than 2 people are tied, the judges will only be allowed to decide between two nominees first then will put the winner up against the remaining nominee.
-If an even number of people, say 4 are tied, the judges will vote on two of them first. Whoever loses will be eliminated from contention. Then the other two will engage in a vote. Finally, the two remaining will face off in a super final.
I say this because I don't want bias to draw into this competition. Like I want to host it but I will not allow myself to be a judge.
So, let's assume the last year of this competition was 2019, my goal would be to make this competition span from 2020-2022. With this, I'm also posting some questions for the admins or anyone open to asking.
Do you have a link to blog formatting for competitions such as this?
Do you have good examples from this wiki and other wikis on these competitions?
Where can I look at the past competitions?
How can I promote this competition?
I'd like to have the competition occur on August 4, starting at 8 pm. Assuming I am able to host this, I want the title of this event to be separate from the title that the other fanon awards most use. I was thinking about calling this "The 2020-2022 Fanon Awards" but I might also call it "The 2022-2022 Fanon Showcase".
Right now, here are my thoughts for the competition:
From July 2-July 16 Nominations begin (starting and ending on Sundays at 8 pm).
Nominations mean that users can vote for who they want to participate in the elections. One user can nominate more than one people.
A user must get three nominations to be added to the poll.
The first round of the tournament will start Monday July 17 and end Sunday July 23 at 8 pm (this round will be fast and users can vote one of the two fanons in each showdown).
During the first round of the tournament nominees will go against each other in each category they are nominated for. Whoever gets the most votes will win.
If there is a tie for the nominees in any category, all parties that are tied (say if there are 2, 3, or even 4) will face off against each other in a finals match. Users can focus on who is the best out of these two options. If the tie occurs again, the match will be decided by three judges who will go off several criteria.
Here are the categories that would be evaluated in the competition:
Best worldbuilding
Best protagonist
Best antagonist
Most beautiful art
Best story (this includes the plot)
Best plot twist
Greatest romance story
Best support characters
Best ending
Most impressive introduction
Greatest writing quality
Best description
Most creative
Most lore accurate
Best comedy (the story itself doesn't have to be a comedy but vote on this if it has the best comedic scenes)
Best action scenes
Other rules:
If no one is nominated or a topic, it simply won't be given out to anyone.
If only one person is nominated for a topic, that user will win by default.
Expect to see updates in the comments regarding the details and preparations of this competition. As well as discussions as to whether or not this can be implemented and how it must be executed.
