Ya i agree first when creating lava bending they definately had it as a sub element of fire but when going forward and actually understanding the science of lava bending they switched it as a sub element of earth

Also on the crescent island fire temple episode (i think it was the solstice part 2), the sages say that Roku created the underground passes by bending and cooling magma. Sure, he could have been using earthbending but he also could have been using firebending. If we set aside ghazan, I feel it is more likely that it was fire bending, b/c it's a fire temple in the fire islands.

I think it’s possible for fire benders to bend alr made lava but they cannot create it like earthbenders

Avatar’s can easily use lavabending since they can both earthbend and firebend. It’s more difficult for regular benders. Bolin probably had firebending ancestor since his mom is Fire Nation, so that’s why he can do it. Ghazan probably had a firebending ancestor too.
