Typically, book 1 and 3 are regarded as the favorite seasons of AMJ. With book 1 being the most popular and read and book 3 standing in second place.
But book 2 offered something different, in a way it is the essence of AMJ. It gives us the most clear adventure vibes of what AMJ is like as a series and what Macai's life was like during the Hundred Year War.
Similar adventures include Mass Effect 2 (in the sense that it was really the essence of Mass Effect space adventures), Halo 2, Knights of the Old Republic 1, Star Wars the Clone Wars season 4, most of One Piece, GI Joe, Pirates of the Caribbean 1, and James Bond Die Another Day. It's fast paced, full of exploration, with a sense of routine, and there is always a new adventure on the horizon from start to end.
Book 4 hit in a different way, it showed Macai's greatest nemesis Zerrel as well as several compelling villains in the Disciples of Justice. Book 4 was a season where every victory fells earned due to how much the MC's back is against the wall. Some people love edgy stories like this and the Disciples of Justice always found themselves on some daring and epic battles.
Similar series include: Halo Infinite, Knights of the Old Republic 2, Avengers: infinity War, and X-Men 3. Alongside book 3, 4 was one of the less predictable seasons of AMJ (though none were predictable or obvious in plot). Only one aspect of 4 was quite predictable.
