Man, what was that all about, anyway? They couldn’t play with him cuz they found out he was the Avatar, so he would tilt the scales for whatever team he was on. Okay, but there’s one flaw with that, and I’m not gonna say that “He was the Avatar the whole time” because that’s a lame reason. I mean, if you find out that a coworker you’ve been working with for 8 years murdered someone in cold blood 10 years ago, you don’t just go “Oh, he’s been a murderer all this time, no need to change anything now”. No, my reasoning is this: He was already declared a master airbender before any of the other kids knew he was the Avatar as evidenced by his tattoos (which are a symbol that all of those kids recognize), so if anything, that was a better reason to exclude him from airbending games for the sake of fairness in that it has a much more direct bearing on how they would perceive his airbending skills specifically. Moreover, the game they were playing was based on the airbending technique that got him recognized as an airbending prodigy in the first place for having invented it, being the air scooter. Seriously, dudes, what the heck? To bring the metaphor back, that would be like if you’ve been working with someone for 6 years, you witness them kill someone, go “Eh, that’s excusable”, but then two years later you witness them murder three more people and then you’re like “Okay, NOW you’ve crossed the line”.
