Sense the rules of this universe are similar to the ones in ours, so I assume that those animals evolved, but Raava and Vaatu are still around, Badger moles, Dragons and Sky bison might have been different, like sky bison were just bison until either Raava, Vaatu or the lion turtles gave them bending, and we see that some animals are highly intelligent, so they probably gave the three most intelligent creatures and the ones closer to there bending, I can go into more depth if you want, do you want me too?

I have one head canon that the animals become hybrid when spirits passed through them. We have seen in TLoK that when spirits possess humans temporarily, a part of them stays in humans permanently. It maybe possible that they got elements through this way.

Lion turtle probably. I think the moon is someone connected to the moon spirit fish. Same energy and all. So when it was killed the moon’s spiritual energy weakened greatly or got expelled, dimming it

Probably. Maybe there are sun spirits like the moon and ocean spirits.

I’m guessing since the water spirits are fish that represent moon and ocean, the Fire spirits might be phoenixes or the dragon birds from LoK that represent Sun and Fire
