It was only recently that the Discussion boards on the wiki were opened, but in that time we have seen an excellent level of activity and engagement from users, and I hope everyone that uses the boards has enjoyed their time here. Though I am not so active on the boards myself, I have been very pleased to see this level of engagement.
The growth in activity on the boards has resulted in a need for Discussion moderators to help moderate the comments and ensure it is an enjoyable and constructive place for the community. A point that has been highlighted recently, however, is a hesitancy among some users that are interested in becoming Discussion moderators of applying for the rights, in particular with regards to the number of moderators we currently have. I wanted to address this point and hopefully allay any fears users might have. Whenever an administrator considers a request for moderator rights, the current number is irrelevant in their decision making; what we look at is whether the user is active, trustworthy, and has a history of trying to help the wiki already through comment moderation. Whether the current number of moderators is 4 or 400, our consideration is the same.
Therefore, if you are interested in applying for such rights, do not feel that the number of moderators we have will in any way be an obstacle. It always brings me great pleasure to see users interested in helping to moderate the wiki, so if you are interested, don't hesitate to apply!
