Aang and Katara weren't there when it dropped. Katara was with Zuko in the Fire Nation Capital, and Aang was fighting Ozai some place else.

^ oH! well i am very sure that sokka got his space sword back, because in the first ever LOK theme/opening, there is a shot that shows Team Avatar (ATLA), and sokka is wielding a sword. it might not be his space sword, but it still is a sword. :P

^ I hope he did, I was kinda triggered when he dropped it.
