I don’t know if this ever was mentioned but who was Iroh’s wife? Azulon told Ozai that Iroh had suffered enough so that makes me think that she might have died, but is it written somewhere?
If I had to guess; I'd say since we only ever saw Iroh and Lu Ten even as a child; she might have died when he was really young and the two bonded more after her possible death. No proof; just a guess.
Her name is mentioned in Zuko Alone, during Azulon's funeral. My guess is that she might have died during childbirth to Lu Ten. At least, that's how I always saw it.
