Lost Adventures did happen after he had only just met Suki once, and Yue had just died. The two of them weren't exclusive yet. If that comic had been released as an episode though, a lot of Avatar fans might not have taken a liking to Sokka's flippant dating attitude given its proximity to Yue's 'death'.

Would that explain why he was written out of the show? Maybe he died of an STD like AIDS and the writers obviously couldn't mention that, but could subtly imply it by not giving him any storyline after ATLA ended.
