</p><p><span style="color:rgb(51,51,51);font-family:Verdana,Arial,sans-serif;font-weight:normal;">I am not sure of these though, so I want to ask you guys. Which ancient culture, or warrior culture, would be a good match with these elements?</span>

<p>Personally, I think a Medieval Europe influence is too incongruous with the other civilizations you've listed. Most of these are either Premodern or Preclassic.
</p><p>Then again, if metallurgy is a big part of their culture, it would be practical to make their culture more advanced, just as the Fire Nation had features of modernity (industrialization, colonialism, urbanization). Even the ceremonial status of the Fire Sages, the absence of spirituality in the Fire Nation, and public perception of the ruling monarch (regarded as a human among the Fire Nation citizens, in contrast to the Earth King's godlike status among Earth Kingdom citizens) could pass for qualities of modernity (displacement of religion).
</p><p>In any case, I would personally use something like the Zhou Dynasty of ancient China as a basis for the metal culture. They had begun using iron smelting technology that Europe wouldn't start using until medieval times. Of course, if your intent is to apply cultures not already used in the show, then you'll probably want to try something else. Ancient Greece?

<p>Thanks for the suggestion. Especially regarding the metal aspect. However, I should probably explain my concept a little
</p><p>-For the fire culture, I wanted to focus on cultures with warriors
</p><p>-For the Earth culture, I wanted to use cultures of brute strength or barbarians
</p><p>-For the wood element, I wanted to use cultures about hunting-gathering, so i used tribal groups
</p><p>-For the metal element I wanted to use a culture that was known to focus on technology and so I actually did think of Ancient Greece, but Im considering combining it with the aspects of the Medieval Europe
</p><p>-The only one I am having trouble about is Water. I want to pick a culture that centers around magic. If you have any guesses about this one, please share. THANK YOU

<p>I see. An Ancient Greece/Medieval Europe mash-up would be interesting. As for the water culture, I think you were already on the right track. You might try using Polynesian culture as your influence. In Polynesian mythology, all living things contain mana, characterized by their virtue (or lack thereof). Polynesians also had a pantheon of deities, as well as demigods such as Maui.

<p>Are you sure about the Polynesian cuture. I remember hearing about them on the Deadliest Warrior, but they seem to be a tribal group.

<p>You could base the water group on the Tu'i Tonga Empire, but I think the vikings would also fit here.
Another alternative for the earth culture, instead of barbarians, could be large-scale agricultural societies.

<p>Today I figured a good idea for the water element would be the Slavic culture mixed with the Yoruba (Voodoo) and Medieval ENgland during the Middle Ages, when magic was more popular. The version of Europe I added to Metal would be the Late Medieval version.

<p>I think a Polynesian culture would work well for a water group. They're based on islands in the Pacific Ocean which work really well with the whole water theme. Plus their mythology is very rich and has many unique ideas with tons of magic related themes. If you need any help with inspiration for ideas with this culture you can look to Moana since a lot of its lore presented is based on real Polynesian lore. Plus Moana has a huge think with water and oceans. Also, Polynesian culture is dying off very rapidly, so including it would always help promote their culture. Oh and I'm kinda biased against Western culture since it feels too mainstream for me, so I'm not too fond of the Middle Ages idea but that's just my bias kicking in:/ Oh and also you say that they're too much like tribal groups but the mythology and lore of Polynesian civilization is way different than Native American culture so I think it would still work.
