<p>Is this possible? Or does a firebender need to create the fire from themselves and then release it?

They should be able to heat things so they start burning / let the air itself burn or something. Just an idea

<p>The wiki article says that firebenders use their chi to conjure fire, and seeing that chi is metaphysical energy laced with the human body, I don't believe so. Their fire is still coming from <i>somewhere</i>, only that <i>somewhere</i> is an incorporeal deposit of energy within oneself.
