<p>Hey,why is it that in ATLA Fire Nation characters have Korean/Chinese/Southeast Asian like names such as Ozai,Iroh,Zuko,and Azula,but in LoK they have Japanese names like Hiroshi,Mako,and Asami?And the Water Tribes have Japanese/Chinese like names such as Sokka,Katara,Hakoda,Yue,and Bato,but in LoK they have Inuit names like Unalaq,and Tonraq?And why is it that in LoK people have names that sound like non Asian/Inuit names such as Varrick,Bryke,and Amon?Any reasons for this change?

<p>Hiroshi, Mako and Asami are people from the United Republic, NOT from the Fire Nation. The people there still have names like Izumi or Iroh.
And I think Korra, Unalaq or Tonraq don't sound so different to Kuruk, Katara or Sokka.
And why should Varrick or Bryke be Inuit names? It more sounds like American. Varrick's first name is Iknik, so that sounds quite Water Tribe-ish.
And Amon is a self-invented name

<p>No,Hiroshi has red eyes,it means he is from the Fire Nation.If an Indian man lives in the US his name can be Raj,and he still is Indian-American and not a white English-American.Amon is the Egyptian god of death,which explains his scariness.Zaheer is a Islamic name commonly used by Turkish and Indian Muslims.Varrick and Bryke sound American,and Ilknik sounds Inuit. </p><p>Izumi DOES sound Japanese,and though Iroh sounds Korean it's actually Chinese. </p><p>The Air Nomads still have Tibetan like names such as Tenzin.(Actually,come to think of it,only Tenzin's ethnicity is Air Nomad.) </p>

<p>He may have fire nation ancestors, but he was probably born in the United Republic and that's why his parents didn't give him a name that sounds like one from the Fire Nation. </p><p>And what I meant with Amon that it was a self-GIVEN name, his real name is Noatak, which is a normal Water Tribe name </p>

<p>ATLA were less developed than LoK when Nick greenlit it into production. With LoK, Bryke and crew had more time to research/refine the naming schemes (amongst other things). Don't overthink it. </p>

- Tonraq is an Inuit name.

<p>^ No. Inuit are native to Canada and Greenland. IOW, Inuit are Canadian or Danish citizens. Â Alaskan Natives are Americans. Both people live in the Arctic area / North pole.
