ALL POSTSWhat Other "Lost Civilizations" Exist?
<p>Idk if this has been talked about before, but I recently rewatched "The Library" and Zei mentions how he's discovered numerous lost civilizations, which got me thinking. I'm curious as to what civilizations he could've found. Even though we'll probably never know, I had some interesting theories.
</p><p>1) I wonder if there could've been a tropical tribe of waterbenders located near the Fire Nation as it is a tropical place. We never really see a rainforest in either of the shows and it would be cool to see exist. The waterbenders I imagine would've been a group of people that aimed to sail to the South Pole in hopes of leaving the NWT much like Gran Gran, but instead, they would've been led off track and discovered a small chain of (or just one) islands. They could maybe also further the skill of plantbending by developing the skill of woodbending as the rainforest is abundant with moisture and trees. I feel like their culture would be based on Polynesia and/or Southeast Asia
</p><p>2) I was reading on one of the other thread about Guru Pathik and it was discussed how he could've belonged to a lost civilization of Air Nomads that was based on India and South Asia. Contrary to normal Air Nomads, these people would not all be benders but would still practice spiritual techniques and be able to meditate into the spirit world and such. They could be located somewhere in the Earth Kingdom, as it was very vast and hosted a variety of cultures. For their environment, I think it could either be a grassland similar to where Yangchen bent the big breeze that one time, or simply another mountain range. As for what their status was during the HYW, I feel like there would be very few of them and they would be at about the same numbers as the Sun Civilization.
</p><p>So that's what I could come up with. Any thoughts on my ideas or ideas you had that you would like to share?

Boringly obvious answer: A lot are likely small communities of earth citizens or maybe fire islands that have been forgotten.

Maybe it's a place where it rains a lot and so the people (if they were earth benders) had to adopt waterbending styles to bend the mud better; and if they were water benders they would have probably adopted earthbending styles. Maybe it was a community with both benders and they brought their bending closer to each other.
</p><p>Another idea I had is quite similar to the first one. Maybe in one of the FN colonies, probably in the southeastern ones, there would have emerged a lavabending society, but this is more unlikely as firebenders cannot lavabend. Regardless, earthbenders could have adopted firebending skills to master lavabending.

<p>What do you mean with pre-bending? People have always been bending in the avatar world, at first with the help of the lion turtles, and later they learned it from the moon, flying bisons, dragons and badgermoles </p>

<p>The mudbending seems cool and I like how it represents the connection between two nations kind of like the colonies. </p><p>As for the lavabending one, I don't really understand how this would work, since lavabending really isn't that practical outside of battles, so it seems hard for me to see how a whole civilization could be created over something used for battle only </p>
