</p><p>Taking that quote out of context is <i>exactly</i> what you did here. Again, if Toph were this physically strong, why would should she need to bend at all to fight anyone in the Avatar world? She'd be a near-literal Supergirl in strength and durability and just tank through everyone's attacks instead of countering them with bending.
</p><p>EDIT: To further bring the point home, I'll use some examples:
</p><p>If Toph were really as physically strong as you seem to think she was, her durability would invariably have to match. For example, Zuko's fire wouldn't have singed her feet in The Western Air Temple.
</p><p>As far as strength goes, if Toph were really that strong, she wouldn't have needed to use some earthbending to help her
move a heavy hammer and she could easily
bust herself out of a wooden cage with her bare hands.
